march 12 2019 (Reuters) - Dick's Sporting Goods Inc said on Tuesday it would stop selling hunting equipment, including rifles and ammunition, at 125 stores in 2019, and drop Reebok merchandise from its outlets.

Shares of the company were down about 11.4 percent at $34.52 as Dick's quarterly same-store sales missed Wall Street estimates and full-year profit forecast was largely below.

The retailer of camping supplies, sporting goods and guns tightened its gun sales policy last year in the wake of a high school shooting in Parkland, Florida in February 2018 that put pressure on its hunting business.

Brick and motor companies are losing out to online sales. Did you even consider that? Do you think that is what is ending Victorias Secret? If they were able to sell guns they would be solvent?
 
Anyone with a brain knows sportsmen don't buy their firearms from Dick's. Most go to local gunshops because they are far more knowledgeable about firearms than any large department store checkout person.

Although some buy firearms on (online) Gunbroker, ALL sales through them must go through the buyer's local gun shop where the appropriate background check will be done BEFORE the firearm is released to the purchaser.

BS - i don't need some expert telling me what gun to buy. I make up my own mind and buy wherever i get the best price.
