I try to not waste time with the extremes. I believe the large majority of Americans love this country. The extremes tend to get a microphone and then the other "side define people as that. Next, compromise gets you primaries and nothing gets done.

If we, all of us, could ignore the extreme and focus on pressuring our representatives to get things done for the betterment of the country, then we will see improvement. Yes, that means sometimes the negotiations make us happy others disappointed.

That is how government is supposed to WORK.

Unfortunately, we have the extreme defining each party so nothing gets accomplished without executive orders. It sucks because it is OUR fault.

I told you, leftists hate America. You don't suppose the lady who turned her back in the flag would say she "loves" America, do you? You think America is a horrible place don't you? Full of racists and white supremacists who want to control everyone. That's true of you isn't it?

The problem is the "extremes" are what gets the headlines. They push the narrative. Neither CNN nor Fox is interested in an actual debate about the issues. That's boring television.

So I find peaceful protests to be very difficult. Protests that are violent automatically get people's attention. It is the easy way to demonstrate being upset. Like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

However, to get people's attention about something peacefully is difficult. I don't know of a protest in history that didn't piss people off. So, without violence, how do you bring attention to something so that change is inspired?

The concern i have is when Kapernick tried to peacefully protest he was treated almost as badly as the violence we have seen recently. This women is experiencing the same.

I get, some disagree that there is a problem. However, for those who see it differently what is the appropriate way to protest.

Again, I would not take a knee or turn my back but I appreciate that they are being peaceful knowing they will be met with threats of violence.

Yes, she can love her country and do that. Just like the Jan 6 terrorists can love this country.

How was he treated badly? There are consequences for behaviors just like for the capitol "insurrectionist".

I know nothing about her other than this 1 moment in time. There is no way I am going to guess of she does or doesn't love this country. How could I do that???

Well I think behavior is a good insight into the motivations of people. So you imagine that a person hears a consistent message about a "systemically" racist America and it has no effect on their opinions? But trump says march peacefully and patriotically on the capitol and he "incited" an "insurrection"?bit amazes me how people decide that some words are powerful while others aren't.

Well, you hear that message and still love this country, correct?

If you fire up a crowd and then say, "be peaceful", and then fire them up some more. Eventually the "be peaceful" will be forgotten.

trump isn't at fault but he certainly isn't innocent. You don't have to "pull the trigger" to be responsible.

Trump organized an insurrection designed to overthrow the country and reinstall him in the office he lost. Is a worse crime possible? He wants to overthrow the American system. Criminality for the right flows from the top down. They follow Trump's orders like the good little Fascists they are. Do not talk patriotism when you are fighting to end the American experiment.
