What the Bart O’Kavanaugh hearings have made irrefutably clear to the entire world is the fictional nature of the concept of meritocracy in american society. Here is a mediocre human being at best who was by birthright squeezed out of his mother’s loins onto the conveyor belt of intergenerational aristocratic success in america. He was going to wind up somewhere in a position of relative power; real estate, the financial services sector, lobbyist, … , he was going to wind up somewhere carrying water for the corporate state against what is best society as a whole. He had a complete and utter public meltdown in front of the world and he’s still on track; they take care of their own and that’s why he’s where he is at all. No blue collar kid with his behavior patterns would have been consistently overlooked, coddled and excused. And no one would hire anyone who behaved the way he did at his job interview. Take all the Ford/sexual allegations stuff out of the equation, he still repeatedly and demonstrably lied under oath. There’s your “we’re a nation of laws” on display.

Then news came out about Don’s path to “success”, another guy whose entire perceived talent range is based upon birthright, and whose head start and wealth came from his daddy.

And that’s before we even get around to the senate committee and the theatrical charade of the hearings and approval process.
