Michael Gerson, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, on Thursday warned of the “further danger” to come if the GOP-controlled Senate votes to acquit President Donald Trump over his Ukraine misconduct.

“The president never views a near-miss as an opportunity for reflection and reformation. He sees it as permission to indulge his every urge,” Gerson wrote in a new column for The Washington Post.

“And his most consistent urge has been to seek unfair advantage in the upcoming presidential election,” he continued. “The months between Senate acquittal and the November vote will be fertile ground for further cheating.” (You can count on that!)

Probably prior to Trump, least they stood for something, the GOP had defining principles, today the majority just largely carries Trump's water

There is no doubt he'll be soliciting any help he can for his reelection across the globe, and why wouldn't he, anyone who wants a favor knows billy Barr ain't going to do anything and an entire political party plus major news network wil either ignore it or defend it

During the Bush years would you have said "those Republicans sure are people of integrity for supporting the Iraq War"? Same with during the Obama years. They were definitely united against Obama but would say they had integrity for that?

I truly hope the Republicans will be fully responsible for him till November. I hope we as a nation do not go to war. I hope the integrity of our vote is maintained. This will embolden him and that’s scary.
