Hello Lenie,
The problem is.... most Americans don't care about what Trump said about the virus early on.
Yes, Americans do care about what Trump says and said. It is up to the well informed and actively engaged populace to oversee what a 'government by the consent of the governed' is doing, and particularly the president. Trump works for us. We are his bosses. If we don't hold him accountable for his deeds and his words then our democracy fails. I am completely discounting the above statement unless you can provide a link to a poll that indicates that 'most Americans don't care about what Trump said about the virus early on.' I care, and I know a lot of other people who care as well. Right now, the president is polling badly, he is trailing Joe Biden by 7.6 points in the average of major polls presented by
Real Clear Politics. LOTS of people CARE.
They care more about the rabidly leftist direction the Democrats are trying to take the country.
You're only talking about conservative Trump supporters. The general population now favors
Joe Biden For President.
The violence in the streets that Democrats refuse to denounce, the admission that they would immediately raise taxes... thus stifling and killing any economic recovery from Covid-19...
The economy under Trump pre-COVID was a farce, a facade, fake. Sure, all the numbers looked great with the exception of a
GIANT OOPS in the FEDERAL DEBT. (That's a big oops.) Sure, an economy does better when government THROWS MONEY AT IT. That is exactly what the tax cut did. By not collecting enough revenue to even pay for the government, it is a false farce of an economy built on growing government debt. Thowing money at the already-rich, that's what it is. You can't continue to pile on federal debt forever. Taxes have to be high enough to pay for the government. If you cut taxes too low, then government takes on debt. That's not sustainable. Sure, it looks good for a while if you never look at the federal debt. What happened to all those Republican deficit hawks who railed constantly about the debt under Obama? What happened to them when Trump took on even more debt? Not a peep. They all flew south for the winter,
and never came back.
Obama had to take on debt to deal with the crashed economy he inherited. He was responsible. As soon as the economy got stable again, the deficit was being reduced because taxes were high enough to pay for the government. Trump cut taxes too much, cut the revenue, and the debt exploded - and that was pre-COVID. Irresponsible!
It is completely irresponsible to cut taxes when the economy is already doing well. That is when you have to service the debt. That is the ONLY time you have a strong enough economy to reduce the debt. You certainly can't do it during a recession. It has to be done when the economy is doing well. The economy was doing well when Trump took office. He signed off on a totally irresponsible tax cut that was not needed. And it screwed us all. Now the debt is way up there.
Yes, of course taxes will have to be raised. That's the responsible thing to do. It's paying for what you got. It's time for the rich to pay. They 'all got a lot richer' (famous Mar-A-Lago quote from Trump) so now it's time for THE RICH to pay down the federal debt.
massive illegal immigration (no borders, no walls)
No Democrat has ever said they want 'no borders, no walls.' Nothing but more Republican propaganda. Show us the quote. Where is any Democrat who EVER said they want 'no borders, no walls?' You have no such quote. It's just made up baloney. Pure BS.
and blanket amnesty for millions of illegals. And let's not even talk about how they would come after Americans' guns and take away 2nd Amendment gun rights (just ask the McCloskeys re: that preview of coming Democrat attractions).
So yeah... keep blathering on and on and on about what Trump "said" or didn't say about the ChiCom Virus. Nobody (but rabid leftists) cares.
'Blathering' is not a very respectful way to refer to an earnest poster giving an honest opinion. My posts are anything but 'rabid.' Can you possibly state your opposing view without being mean?
Please be respectful. I only talk to respectful people. I have no desire to enter into a disparagement contest. I am here to discuss politics. If you wish to talk about the issues I am fine with that. I will tell you how I feel and back it up with credible quotes and links. If you want to dis those who say things you don't like then that will not work out for us:
This is my
Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate!
If that is agreeable, I welcome your comments. Even if I disagree with you, I support freedom of speech and your right to post your view. It is your view I am interested in, not your disrespect. If you can't separate them, then we probably will not be talking long. Your previous post, for example, was a disrespectful post. You need to talk to me like I am somebody you care about; and you don't want to insult. Some people can turn it on and off at will. Can you? I don't care how you treat others. That's your thing. Can you just talk to me straight? If you can do that I will continue to talk to you. If you double down and want to 'tell me off' you better make it good because it will be the last post of yours I ever read.
So what's it gonna be? I am not into playing games. I came to talk politics. Nothing personal.
Do you possess the capacity to post with respect?
If you can't counter my points with respect then your view is worthless to me. Political positions based on insults are false. Do you really support an honest position? If so, please expound upon it. Go ahead. Make my day. I would really like to be pleasantly surprised.
