Well, one thing it wasn't, was God. I'm just telling you what he said during his sermons, often talking about "revolutionary suicide" faking assassination attempts to "survive"... He was high on speed and had a plan. He would spend hours loving up on socialism and never mentioning God. Those folks literally killed themselves in the name of Socialism... it is freaky to listen to. Anyway, let's get back to the topic. Jim Jones and his murdering ways notwithstanding.

If it is a famous crime I probably know too much about it. LOL. I've been thinking about starting up a True Crime podcast. I have encyclopedic knowledge and no where to put it. :D

This guy is not leading this flock and has confused church and congregation with a place. The Church isn't a building, it is the Congregation. Serve them, not the building is my suggestion to this dude. Scary thing is, my own mother is a believer and thinks God will protect her from the virus. I told her that this creator she believes in gave us a brain for a reason, it wasn't to ignore warnings and put the lives of others at risk. Hopefully she stays home. :(

You'd have to listen to the tapes to know what I am saying. I would agree with you if any part of that last discussion with his "flock" had anything more than a passing nod to a mention of a God, but it doesn't. Jim talked about how he had "seen it", that the actions of those who killed the congresscritter made it so they had no escape, that the government was right now bearing down on them with paratroopers and they need to make their voice heard with Revolutionary Suicide. No, God was not part of what happened there that day. Not even part of the conversation.

He taped the whole thing, sometimes pausing, but taped right up to the end... one woman did well arguing against it, asking him to call Russia... even she didn't mention God though. Nobody did. It's surreal to listen to....

I get that he was a cult and a nutbag psycho, but you can't take the Christian provenance out of this. He was a nut, he thought he was god,
not unlike ...well...Jesus. Christianity is a death cult, after all, they just have varying degrees of commitment to the cause.

If that's what it takes to make you feel good about yourself, then so be it. If you really need to believe that this is the "same thing" then go ahead. It really doesn't matter in the long run.

A South Florida megachurch pastor wants his congregation to know even though the coronavirus continues to spread, they should be coming to church to worship anyway, and any fear they might have of packed spaces is coming from a “demonic spirit.”

“Do you believe God would bring his people to his house to be contagious with the virus? Of course not,” pastor Guillermo Maldonado said, according to the Miami Herald. But as the Herald points out, Maldonado’s service wasn’t as packed as it usually is.

“This service is usually packed. So now they’re home in a cave afraid of the virus, that you want to transmit the virus,” Maldonado lamented. “If we die, we die for Christ. If we live, we live for Christ, so what do you lose?”

Other places of worship in the area have followed the advice of health officials to avoid mass gatherings of “over 250” in an effort to stem the infection rates and have shuttered services. But Maldonado seems to have the opposite intent. In a now-deleted Facebook post, he warned his followers that they have two choices — “Come in and receive your healing, or stay home and miss out.”...
