I could not agree more. It is disturbingly low, and pushing down the low end of the wage range. It lowers investment in training, and any attempts to retain employees. It is becoming a mess.
We can't even get basic income, so I doubt universal basic income is anywhere in the offing in America.
I generally feel that people need something in their lives, so I am cautious about UBI. But The Epstein Class' total disregard for it is disturbing.
Maybe the solution is the guaranteed part time job. Or maybe it is a strict, real UBI. Or maybe a basic income for those that make less than a certain amount of money. Or maybe a top up on having a job.
I do not have all the answers, but I know the Epstein Class is working against any of the answers.
