The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) reported this morning that felony violent crime fell 25% in 2025. Rape declined 13%, robbery fell 27%, and aggravated assault dropped 31%. Property crime fell 19%. Except for rape, these are the largest one-year reductions recorded since data collection began 53 years ago.

It is measured against post-pandemic peaks

So it appears all those Democrat cities are doing a hell’va job contrary to the MAGA narrative

I seriously doubt that it’s just coincidental that controlling the border was a factor in the drop in crime .
Sure, there’s always other factors but the unrestrained open border was not good.

You may have a point, but not a major factor considering nearly three quarters of the illegal immigrants Ice arrest don’t have serious criminal backgrounds

And one quarter do? Wow, that sounds big major to me.
So what factor(s) do you consider major?
Do you really believe that after decades of a core democrat policy as being soft on violent criminals has changed suddenly ?

I DO agree that ICE and trump went too far in their deportations.
If an alien had overstayed their visit and had a good record w/ zero infractions w/ the law I'd let them know they need to get their paperwork in order pronto or they would be deported. Anyone else w/ even minor infractions like shoplifting - out.

Isn’t, a large percentage of those have minor convictions as traffic violations (https://tracreports.org/immigration/quickfacts/)

As I noted, the numbers are based against post pandemic numbers

You are aware that nearly all major cities in the US are, and have been run, by Democrats, so if crime is shrinking seems as if those Democrat policies are doing a pretty good job

Bullshit. Violent crime was down across the board under Biden.

Key Crime Data Under the Biden Administration
    • Overall Rates: According to the FBI Report via the Defender Services Office, total violent crime decreased significantly, placing rates near multi-decade lows. Fact-checkers like Congress House Documents verified that violent crime fell to near 50-year lows

Key Perspectives on Bias and Reporting
    • Rightward Shift: Media observers and reports (such as analyses by The New York Times and media evaluators like NewsGuard) note that the RealClear enterprise has shifted distinctively to the right, particularly since the Trump presidency. Critics point out that its story selection, commentary, and investigative framing frequently align with conservative causes, skepticism of mainstream institutions, and critiques of the political left.

The Democratic cities protect criminals, illegals, with their sanctuary policies, Anchovies.

ICE is arresting and deporting many of them but the far left loons attack ICE and the judges release the illegals.

I’m hoping they’ve done a course correction. All that no cash bail and the backlash against DAs not prosecuting violent criminals because they were black after the murder of George Floyd has hopefully awakened the insanity by dems’ soft on crime policies.
I’m neither on the Red or Blue team. I’m on the common sense team. And there seems to be not enough of us.

According to the thread crime is way down and Democrats run vast majority of urban areas so you can not say Democratic cities protect criminals

over seventy percent of those arrested by Ice don’t have criminal records, and majority that do are minor offenses as traffic offenses

This is an outright lie. Where this lie comes from is that a good chunk of people ICE arrests have either a criminal conviction (13%) or pending criminal charges (26%). That's a combined total of 40%. When ICE makes an arrest of such a person, there is a good chance they arrest several others present who are in the country illegally too that are with the target for arrest.

All that aside, I really don't care if they have a criminal past or not. If they are here illegally, they need to be deported--PERIOD!

I don't give a shit if they have a criminal record or not. They're here ILLEGALLY and need to be deported, tossed out of the country, and kept out.

What possible reason do we as a nation have to keep someone who is here illegally in the country?

Tell that to the churches and Trump.

Yeah, traffic violations

Yeah, traffic violations
I don't give a shit if they have a criminal record, pending charges, or not. If someone is here in violation of our immigration laws, they need to be arrested, tried and convicted, then deported never to return. Which part of that don't you get?

Should we start chasing and everyone who runs a Stop sign next? Exceeds the speed limits?

So now the Feds, Trump, is helping places like NYC, yeah, in your dreams
Poor anchovies,

How's the crime rate in DC. Think Trump didn't work with Bowser to get that cleaned up?
Hundreds of carjackings per month in MN, most of the perps were let go with no bail. The feds stepped in, and it is now treated as a federal crime, and the rate has not dropped to near zero per month.

That’s bullshit, DC crime, crime nearly everywhere, was already trending down

And had you been to DC you’d see what a joke it is, all the Guardsmen standing around tourist spots, not out in the neighborhoods, the high crime areas, the NorthEast, but looking good for the out of town visitors sightseeing
