"Pollsters Mallory Newall and Frank Newport said on Monday that Republican voters' distrust of the news media makes their views of President Trump nearly immune to negative news coverage about him."

"There's a certain group of Americans out there including the president's base, that feel that the media is the enemy of the public, which is of course language that the president himself has used.
There is a certain sect of the American public that is quick to write it off because they believe the news media is biased, they believe it's unfair to the president"

"Did Trump take advantage or create this situation with the negative attitudes toward the media?"

"Whether or not he did it consciously or not, he came in and took advantage of pre-existing, very negative perceptions of the news media among people who are conservative and Republican"

Can't believe the article actually wonders if Trump knew it, that he could play his base against the media and thereby create his own reality, of course he did, even admitted it, and still does it daily
