Group says Earth's resources won't last

Claim: In 1974, the US Geological Survey announced “at 1974 technology and 1974 price” the US had only a 10-year supply of natural gas.

I am sure he was typing that with his A/C blasting, some fancy KW eating server, all the lights on, etc. after the drove his gas hog pick up to go get some sort of processed food made in another CO2 producing fast food joint. Kind of misses the whole point.

There is a great documentary series that delves into what the Earth would look like after human extinction. They look at it incrementally in spans of thousands of years, starting at like 100 years, then 500, 1,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, etc.

They show the gradual decay of cities like New York, Los Angeles, etc. First the streets and sidewalks disappear as vegetation pushes it's way through and reclaims them. Then the vines start growing up the sides of buildings. Then, the glass panels fall out or are broken allowing wind to swirl through, pushing more windows out and bird's nest and animals burrow inside of them. Eventually with the pull off the vines and the stresses of the wind and elements combined with age and lack of maintenance, they beging to crumble and fall down.

After 50 - 100k years, there are tree and brush covered hills where the rubble lies beneath the soil and everything is back to the way it was and is supposed to be.

Prior to seeing that series, I used to spend some time trying to imagine the very same thing.
