And BTW, when I was a kid, my dad and my two best friends' dads worked for NASA. Needless to say, we all had several sew-on NASA patches on our jackets, with both the entire name spelled out and with just the acronym.

But really, most people know what NASA stands for without even thinking about it.

I don't personally, but I met Don Mackey, a well known (at the time) NASA portrait artist who did portraits of THE ORIGINAL SEVEN ASTRONAUTS.

I think the original drawings were/are(?) on display on the walls of NASA headquarters.

He had a very large dachshund that one of my friends kept at their house for a week while he was out of town. I remember my friend would feed him by opening up a can of dog food and dumping it out on the grass still in the shape of the can. The dog would woof it down in a few bites.

I met Mackey when he came by to pick the dog up.
