Shit I just remembered how I was colorblind my whole life anyway. I went to a catholic grade school that had two classes for every grade and the class size was only 20 kids. I only got to have a birthday party for my 10th birthday (poor white family rule #187) so I invited all my best friends from school. Included in my choices were a black kid who shared my first name, and a mexican kid who also invited me to his birthday party where they cooked a goat or a lamb whole and it was so damn good. Those two were the only minorities at catholic school in the early 70s and yet big old racist me chose them as my friends.

I'm out wandering around in suburban chicago early 70s as an 11-year-old. I meet a black kid and say hello. We chat a bit and I introduce myself. He says his name is "Man". OK, cool. We caught some crawdads under the park bridge and had some fun. So I said we should go to my house so I could show my mom my new friend. So I tell my mom his name is "Man" and she's really nice and everything but Man never came around and I never saw him anywhere after that but we moved a year later.
I never really thought about this before and here we go again.
I just remembered why black people never frightened me or made me hate them. I was a dumb kid and I decided to walk home one time from somewhere unfamiliar where I was supposed to stay until may parents returned but was loosely organized. (CCD religious experience group thing) and a kind black man picked me up when I was hitchhiking. I was about 11 or 12 I think. I seem to recall where I started walking from was in Gary IN some 30 miles away from home. LOL dumbass kid I was. Anyway, that black guy saved my life. I wish I could thank him
