I mean, having Cenk as his Uncle certainly gave him insight into the business and likely opened some doors for him no doubt. But that only takes you so far. I'm not aware of him being introduced everywhere he goes as Cenk's nephew rather than as his own person.

How many "successful influencers" were/are the general public aware of before the MSM show cases them? Whatever audience he gained on TYT he took with him and expanded via word of mouth/advertising. Het interviewed by other net types, advocate a controversial and polarizing stance, piss off or please the right people and BOOM ... you and I are talking about him, etc., etc.

You comparing the integrity of USC with that of SMU? Hypothetically, if both schools found their Miami billionaire sugar daddy would USC ask for a needed say Science Library or solely put the money into a football program? I’d wager SMU wouldn’t give it a second thought

Besides, the perennial top teams have State funding, they don’t have to balance finances like a private school does annually

And, SMU may make the playoffs via the ACC, which is full of competing private schools, but it will ever win a national championship

Most schools won't win national championships but SMU has made the playoffs and shown they will spend money to put a competitive product on the field.

I know this doesn't make everyone happy, but SMU is only the latest example of their application numbers going way up after they made the playoffs. SMU is personal to me as my father earned tenure there as a graduate school professor and my Mom got her MBA from there.

I've had numerous Bay Area friends have kids looking at TCU and SMU and several chose TCU because they were in a big conference (this was before SMU joined the ACC).

Football success has been a great boost to SMU and their big money alums, of which they have many, will continue to fund their N.I.L. program.

YES! Ugyur is head of The Young Turks, a very successful counter to the near total media dominance of the right wing. Piker is his nephew, worked on the show behind the scenes and as a host before branching out on his own.

He created even too much controversy for Cenk and TYT at the time, especially with his comments on (/11.

While Cenk and TYT had to call him for those statements and say he was wrong, and he was forced to walk them back, the rumor that he fired for them was wrong. But it does seem that began the path of him leaving to host his own Twitch stream seeing there was a big audience for his own more extreme views that TYT was avoiding touching.

i will reiterate my position that Hasan Piker on the left = Charlie Kirk on the right. They are more alike then not in tactics and results.

Whether they identified 'opportunistically' or found symbiosis with the extreme flanks, they both managed to aggregate massive audiences by appealing to the most extreme wings by saying things the more main stream 'influencers' would not and could not. They made those extremes feel welcomed more into the party and mainstream and by doing so, gained a great deal of direction control on their voting, from what is historically very low turnout voters.

Hasan aggregates - the most extreme 'no borders', 'no police', 'identity politics' folk by often using rhetoric ('9/11 deserved', etc) of that wing.

Charlie Kirk aggregated - the most extreme 'racists', 'xenophobes', 'blame others', 'hate driven', folk by often using the most extreme hateful and racist speak.

Again whether they come by this naturally or just opportunistically saw an opening to utilize it to become a top influencer, is something others can debate and make their own decision on.

This is a new thing. You've been arguing like this has already been occurring, and that's why we haven't won in 20 years.

We'll see how far these taxpayer dollars go. Based on that article the money would obviously help, but it's not giving some insurmountable advantage. Relatively speaking, it's not that much.

Not you, any private school outside of ND, those schools might aspire toward gridiron fame but they also have other demands requiring financing that public schools do not. In addition, it is not just like hiring faculty, most private schools strive to attract those persons who will add to the prestige of the school. You aren’t going to tell us SMU’s faculty share the same recognition and notoriety as USC’s are you?

Because if USC had State funding they could also solicit more funding from those donors committed to the school’s general funds
