Insurance profits are about 4-5%. Insurance company profits have little to do with the cost of healthcare. It is the cost paid to providers--doctor's groups, hospitals, medical suppliers--these all make a profit.

Insurance companies are an added cost. Their function is denial of insurance. The more claims they can avoid paying, is the more money they make. That is their business model. They have doctors who are paiod to find ways to get out of paying for care. YThey created resission for that too. The entire health insurance cost would be eliminated with single payer.

Sounds like trying to get Medicare to pay. It is getting harder to find places to even accept it. Several of the doctors I have been using for years no longer take my Medicare Advantage.

It was fine the way it was. Most had insurance, and those that didn't could get medical treatment from the emergency rooms.

The NHS is a shambles and patients are left to suffer

OUR state-run organisations are in such a mess that it would be better to scrap governments and hand everything over to a bunch of sixth-formers. They couldn't do worse and some of their ideas might at least be fun.

Why is it that my out of pocket max went up after Obamacare went into effect and all these people that supposedly were costing the rest of us because they didn't have coverage now had it?

You don't think emergency rooms charged other patients that could pay more because many didn't pay? You really only have two choices with healthcare, either pay for everyone's healthcare or push them to the curb. ER didn't make magical emergency room money for charity, we all paid for it. But since you think ER's magically made charity money appear I doubt trying to explain something as complicated as a healthcare system is going to be very productive. Hell Trump didn't realize it was complicated until he was POTUS.
