Healthcare System Needs a Prescription of Competition - Privatize Medicare & Medicaid

I have never met a UK citizen, and I've met many, both here and there, who would trade their system for ours.

I, on the other hand, would trade our system for theirs in a minute.

Flights to the UK leave every day. Book one and get going.

As for MY insurance coverage, my max out of pocket is $1000/year and my premiums costs me nothing. Never been denied coverage for the things the policy covers. Low co-pays. Why would I trade that for a system that costs me more? So someone else can get it for less?

So a $1000 a year max out of pocket, maybe that is deductible? And no premium? What things does this amazing policy cover? Open heart, kidney transplant, breast exams.

No, out pocket max. The premiums are part of my compensation.

It covers a wide range of things, major things. That's why when I hear people say that we need to go to single payer, a UK style system, etc. I oppose it. MY coverage is excellent and I choose not to support something that would cause it to be higher in costs.

Ok, so your employer is paying the insurance company instead of you. And the Max possible out of pocket each year is $1000? You really need to re read your policy. I have great insurance, about 10 years ago my wife had nearly a million dollar medical event, I had thought I had some sort of max out of pocket, when in fact there was simply a point the insurance company quit paying. Anyway, I forgot who I was talking to. I am sure you have the bestes and cheapest insurance in the world.

Part of my compensation, yes.

I just went through our annual insurance enrollment process. I've been with them many years, more than 10, and our coverage has been the same, with a few tweaks on minor items, far longer than that according to those here longer than I've been here. Don't worry, what I say is true as I've seen it in action.

Now, back to the topic at hand. Being that my insurance coverage is what it is and works the way I've explained, please tell me why I should support a system that will cost me more. Are you saying I should be voluntarily be willing to pay more, without really knowing whether it will be as good or not, so that someone else not in my position can get coverage for less? Simple question.

Once a people get use to the government taking care of them, they are afraid to give up that security.

That's not security they're being provided.

They feel it is security, that is why they are afraid to try anything else. They all have the same problems of the U. S. in paying for the cost of the system. You even read about doctors' strikes in France because they have to lower the payments to doctors to contain costs.

It has never been more clear that our healthcare system is broken, as rising costs and shrinking choices are pushing more Americans out of the health insurance market.

Nowhere is this truer than for our nation’s bloated entitlement programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid. These programs cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars, eating up funds that individuals could otherwise spend on their own care when and as they need it.

That's an extremely low out of pocket max. Do you have an HMO?

As long as the taxpayers are forced by the government to provide something to someone unwilling to earn it, they have no need to try anything else. Why would someone that can get as much or more in handouts ever do for themselves?
