Professor Jason Arday (Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Jesus College) has resigned with immediate effect. Cambridge announced it had begun an investigation “following new information about Prof Arday’s academic qualifications and honorary appointments.” Arday then issued a statement (published via the Good Law Project) saying the “relentless accusations, speculation and public commentary have taken a profound toll” and that he had concluded “the only way to bring this chapter to an end is to step away.”
This follows weeks of public allegations (initially highlighted by Nathan Cofnas and reported across outlets including the BBC, The Guardian, The Telegraph, and others) of extensive textual overlap/plagiarism in his PhD thesis and other work, plus questions about some of his claimed affiliations and achievements. Arday has previously acknowledged "errors" in his early work while denying he is “a liar” and attributing issues in part to inadequate supervision linked to his autism and learning disabilities.

Nothing in his bio says anything about his sexuality. They mention this, though.
Arday was diagnosed with autism, global developmental delay and dyslexia.[2] He was non-verbal until the age of 11 and could not read or write until he was 18.[3] He is also epileptic.[4]
