How do board leftists feel about the socialists taking over the party?

I saw the DSA's website, and saw nothing about Palestine. Am I looking at the right place?
I don't spend time on their website so I don't know what's on it. It's a big part of the DSA's platform and the candidates who have been running for office.

If you're not familiar with that then that's fine, but I'd suggest looking at their statements over the years.

Here, 10 seconds of searching and I found it.

I am okay with that, I wish we should stop propping up the Israel war machine, Palestinian's should have a place in Gaza and the Golan Heights. I believe in self governance.

I would not support terrorism, but a two state solution is the solution to the Arab Israel conflict.

Got news for you: The Israelis contribute heavily in military technology and R&D to our own defense. It isn't just us giving them stuff. If we stopped doing that, they'd go elsewhere and still get the money and support from somebody else.

Except the Palestinians, and only the Palestinians, refuse to accept a two-state solution.

For future reference the word has a "u".

The socialist insurgency may be a problem for Democrats if it gets out of hand but what it presently signifies is enthusiasm in the ever growing opposition to the thug occupying the WH. We learned in the papers this morning that since becoming President he's made two billion dollars for himself. Compared to the exploitation of the public trust some localized socialism seems almost like medicine.
there is a need for more populism into our society.

socialism isn't it.

they're the worst ally ever.

you're just a brainwashed war machine dolt.

is a minimum wage socialism?

No, a minimum wage is not socialism.

Definitions

  • Socialism refers to an economic system (or strong tendency toward one) where the means of production (factories, land, major capital) are primarily owned or controlled collectively—typically by the state, workers' councils, or "the community"—rather than by private individuals. Core features often include central planning or heavy direction of the economy, abolition or severe curtailment of private profit in production, and wealth redistribution aimed at class equality. Historical examples range from Soviet-style command economies to more decentralized visions.
  • Minimum wage is a price floor on labor: a government law requiring employers to pay workers at least a specified hourly rate. It regulates one input cost in the labor market but leaves private ownership of businesses, voluntary contracting (above the floor), profit motives, and market allocation of most resources intact.
These are distinct. A minimum wage is a regulatory intervention within a market economy. It does not transfer ownership of companies to the state or workers, nor does it replace markets with planning.

Why the confusion arises

  • Minimum wage does involve government coercion in voluntary agreements (employers and employees cannot legally agree to lower pay). This deviates from pure laissez-faire capitalism.
  • It redistributes some purchasing power toward low-wage workers, often justified on equity grounds. Critics (e.g., Milton Friedman, many Austrian economists) argue it distorts labor markets, raises unemployment for low-skilled workers, encourages automation/black markets, and acts like a tax on employers passed to consumers or reduced hiring.
  • Supporters (various empirical studies, e.g., Card & Krueger's early work, or "monopsony" models) claim it can raise wages with minimal disemployment in certain conditions, reduce poverty, and boost demand.
  • Politically, strong advocates for high minimum wages often overlap with democratic socialists or progressives who favor broader economic intervention. But correlation ≠ identity.

Evidence from practice

Virtually every developed capitalist country has some form of minimum wage (US federal $7.25/hour since 2009, with state variations; UK National Living Wage; Australia; Germany; Japan; etc.). These are mixed-market economies with private enterprise, stock markets, and profit-driven firms—not socialist. Hong Kong maintained a relatively free economy for decades before introducing one. Communist states like the USSR or Maoist China did not rely on "minimum wages" in the same way; they set wages administratively under state ownership.

Historical origins: Early minimum wage laws in the US/UK (late 19th/early 20th century) came from progressive reformers concerned with sweatshops, often alongside child labor laws and union rights—not Marxist revolutionaries. Marx himself viewed wage regulation as insufficient; he advocated transcending wage labor entirely.

Spectrum, not binary

Modern economies are rarely pure.

  • Pure capitalism (laissez-faire): No minimum wage; wages set by supply/demand.
  • Regulatory capitalism / welfare state: Minimum wage + safety nets + progressive taxes + antitrust. Common in OECD countries.
  • Socialism: State dominance of production (e.g., nationalized industries, five-year plans).
  • Democratic socialism: Pushes expansive versions of the middle category toward the latter, via high minimum wages, universal basic income, "Green New Deal," worker board seats, etc.
A minimum wage is compatible with capitalism (as practiced) and can exist without socialism. Raising it dramatically and pairing it with widespread nationalization, price controls, or wealth seizures would be a stronger shift. Empirical effects remain contested: consensus shows modest disemployment for teens/low-skilled groups, with benefits concentrated on some workers; net poverty reduction is limited because many minimum wage earners are not poor households (teenagers, second earners).

In short, calling a minimum wage "socialism" is rhetorical exaggeration. It is interventionism—common across political systems—but does not define or require socialist ownership structures. Debates over its level belong in policy analysis (tradeoffs in employment, prices, automation, informal economy), not system labels.

Lots of democrat party incumbents being taken down in low turnout primaries.

Does this make you leftists happy?

Is the party finally shedding its "moderate" skin and think its safe to come out from hiding?
You insane bastard, how do you feel about your fuckin president flying around in a $400 million dollar arab can from his sand nigga's, retrofitted with hard earned tax payer coins, while he and his greedy fuckin family is making 2 billion plus off the markets? Find a fuckin room and masterbate yourself into some common sense you shit for brains fool. Every time that Arab can hits the skys, millions of tax payer dollars flys out the window in costs alone.

This is all I found. . .

FREE PALESTINE

An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to military and economic aid, and weapons sales to Israel, respect of the authority of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, and national sovereignty for the Palestinian people.

I agree that Palestine should have a state. I do not believe they should threaten Israel. Ballance.
Jarod, you're free to hold whatever position you would like. That's not the topic here however.

What's being discussed is the DSA and their candidates position towards Israel, a prime example today being Israel's actions must be called genocide. And comparing that to the more mainstream Democratic postion.

The DSAs are more than just Israel-Palestine but as has been stated, in many local races this becomes an over arching theme anyway.

Oh, I got it, ten or twelve primary winners is now the determining factor in the nationwide party, must be MAGA logic
I wouldn't say they are driving the party, but clearly gaining in influence.

How Once-Red Colorado Became Fertile Ground for Democratic Socialists

Melat Kiros, a 29-year-old Democratic socialist, capitalized on the state’s leftward turn and voter dissatisfaction with incumbents

They're too fucking stupid to notice

And the so called pals rejected every attempt , Israel left gaza 18 years ago and left a function infrastructure which they the pals destroyed
Learn the history

Taking into account all the peace initiatives proposed to end the conflict between the Jews and the Palestinian Arabs over the last 83 years, we must consider the possibility that the Palestinians—or at least their leaders—do not want to establish their own state.

Their sight is currently set on the big prize—the entire state of Israel—and they are playing for time. In the meantime, they plan to continue to subsist on monies donated by the Arabs and the Europeans. Many of the Arab states have grown disenchanted with this enterprise, and their assistance, particularly from the Saudis, has been discontinued in recent years.

I'm taking you at your word, but you really aren't familiar with this?

Here's from the progressive Guardian:

‘It’s become a litmus test’: wins for Israel critics shine light on key issue for Democrats

Candidates who believe Israel has committed genocide won big in New York – will it push the party to move their way?

That's just about the New York candidates but it's a national thing. Scott Weiner is currently favored to win Nancy Pelosi's seat and look what happened to him this weekend as he was harassed by activists pissed he didn't initially say Israel's actions were genocide.

I really do not, Ill read your article.

remember when you guys thought Bernie Sanders was just an outlier?

seems like those ten or twelve primary winners have the mojo

BTW, look at history, it doesn't take but 10% to overtake a party. Do you think everyone was an avowed Nazi under Hitler? Nope, just needed 10% of them. Same in Russia and the communists. You should really learn your history

Actually I am fine with it. While I will admit, the whole crypto thing isn't a good look, but given how the democrats tried to bankrupt him and his family I am ok with it.

That $2 billion is in crypto. It isn't real.

So now these democratic socialists are compared to Hitler’s Brown Shirts and Lenin’s Bolsheviks, beautiful, guess then next they’ll be planning Beer Hall Putschs and storming the Capitol, opps, I forgot, Trump’s MAGA militia already did that one
