aug 26 2021 (CNN)The veteran US Capitol Police officer who killed pro-Trump rioter Ashli Babbitt went public Thursday, revealing his identity and defending his actions on January 6.

"I know that day I saved countless lives," Lt. Michael Byrd said in an interview with "NBC Nightly News." "I know members of Congress, as well as my fellow officers and staff, were in jeopardy and in serious danger. And that's my job."

The officer fatally shot Babbitt in the shoulder while she climbed through a window that led into the Speaker's Lobby, adjacent to the House chamber, while lawmakers were evacuating.

"I tried to wait as long as I could," Byrd said of the incident in the doorway. "I hoped and prayed no one tried to enter through those doors. But their failure to comply required me to take the appropriate action to save the lives of members of Congress and myself and my fellow officers.

I think theres an interesting question here. "he saved countless lives"

How? by killing Ashley? Was she going to personally kill all the democrats in the building? No theres no reasonable world where she would do this.

Therefore she was killed as an example to the others to get them to stop. At that point you have to ask why is she being punished for the actions of others?

Next if there was a true fear of his life and the need to provide examples why did the officer stop at one bullet and instead kill more people?

There was no Capitol police officer who ever killed this woman. She was wounded in arm or shoulder, a wound that should have been easily treated has any of the hundreds of invaders bothered to stop and help her. No my dear, her death was the result of her fellow invaders who didn't give a shit about her.

Now please tell us just what rights of hers were exercised. Did she have a "right" of breaking and entering a building that was closed? If that is the case, you dont have much to say about the black Americans you regularly accuse of rioting.
 
She was in front of a mob that broke through the door between the lobby and congress. It was bad luck that she got killed, but it was her fault for being in an insurrection that threatened the politician's lives and intended to stop congress from doing its job.
