LOL You most certainly surrendered.
Think so?
Uncensored2008’s posts after #7100551 mix one fair process point with several weaker or inaccurate ones, then drop into “yes / I accept your surrender” instead of engaging the substance.
The exchange starts from Diogenes posting a 4chan/X-style “IQ test”: treat “Asian men are shorter on average” as a group-mean claim; answering with “not all / I know a tall one” is treated as failing to distinguish means from universals. Uncensored calls that claim and the tweeter stupid, then objects that Diogenes is arguing averages when the issue is “veracity,” that the tweet offered no evidence, that the smart reply is “show evidence + define Asian,” that Arabs count as Asian and are not short, and that N/S Korea shows nutrition can move height (and he guesses a big IQ gap with “no data”).
What holds
Asking for evidence and a definition is a legitimate first move. A bare assertion on X is not a paper. SE Asian men
are shorter on average than Western men, and the
N vs S Korea height gap is real and largely environmental (same ancestry, different nutrition and living standards). Estimates for adult men typically run about 3–8 cm (roughly 1.2–3.1 in), with larger gaps in younger cohorts in some later reports. Uncensored’s “inch and a half” is in the low end of published ranges, not invented.
A substantial
cognitive gap between North Korean refugees and South Koreans also shows up in the literature he said he could not find (e.g. Raven-style scores and other tests; compilations often put SK near ~104 and NK estimates much lower, with refugee-selection and Flynn-effect caveats). His directional guess was reasonable.
What does not hold
The height mean itself is not “stupid.” US NHANES and similar sources consistently put non-Hispanic Asian men (the group people mean in this meme) around ~169–170.5 cm vs non-Hispanic White men ~176–177 cm. Overlap is large; the mean difference is not. That is exactly the kind of well-documented average the original post used. “The tweet didn’t paste a table” does not make the statement false.
“Straw man / you’re arguing averages when the question is veracity” misstates Diogenes’ post. He was evaluating the
reasoning pattern (mean vs. exception), noted the example is empirically true, and already flagged that the 4chan framing is hyperbolic as a full IQ test. That is not substituting “averages exist” for “prove this tweet.”
“Arabs are considered Asian (despite being African)” is a poor definitional gotcha here. In US census practice, people of Middle Eastern / North African origin were long classified as White, not Asian; a separate MENA category has been added more recently. “Asian” in the height meme and in NHANES “Asian” almost always means East / South / Southeast Asian. Levantine and Gulf Arabs are geographically in western Asia; North African Arabs are in Africa. Neither group is what the original claim is about, and many of those populations are not short relative to East Asians.
“No data” on Korea IQ is simply wrong; studies on defectors and three-way Korea comparisons exist. Declaring that Diogenes “surrendered” after answering his own Socratic prompts with “yes” does not repair the earlier errors.
Net
Uncensored is right that a tweet is not evidence and that “Asian” is sloppy without a definition. He is wrong that the underlying height claim is stupid or unsupported, wrong that Diogenes was only playing averages-vs-truth, and sloppy on who counts as “Asian.” The Korea nutrition point is the strongest part of his post; the rest is mostly burden-shifting plus a category error, followed by victory-lap posting rather than a tighter rebuttal.
