Imagine you are doing a home renovation and you hire this company to reline your swimming pool.

They give you an initial quote and since that quote sounds great to you, you accept them without seeking any other bids. Your wife is skeptical and thinks you should have got other quotes.

You brag to your wife what a great deal you got as you know the neighbor with a pool paid more than that for similar work and so you are ok just going with this company and this quote.

They then do the work but bill you ~10x what they quoted. Then the pool liner peels up within about a week.

You then tell your wife, it is not your fault and it is not the companies fault, so you are letting them do it all over again and BILL IT AGAIN, without requiring a quote again.

Only magats see the above and would say if Trump was that husband it is genius and proof of his skills as a Contractor and Construction guy who knows how to manage such jobs.

The rest of the world, including the guys wife see this as idiocy and so deeply flawed that the person proves they are completely incompetent when it comes to such jobs and need to be kept away from all future ones.

I don't think any thing cut the liner. I think the liner just lifted and came apart at its seams due to the inexperienced company not using the proper pre treatment to ensure the liner could bind to the surface of the pool.

Just as when you paint at home and in some instances you need to use a primer first before the regular paint to keep it from peeling off, a pool surface can require much more extensive pre treatment to ensure the liner adherence.

I think this company did the absolute minimum, so they could bank the maximum profit and simply did not care if the liner peeled up a couple years from now.

What they did not expect is how quick it happened and that Trump would simply give them the bonus of a second no bid contract to do it all over again.
