HATES the word Juneteenth.

It sounds Ebonic and awful. I don't understand why our African American citizens don't find it demeaning.
I'm not even one myself, but I find it demeaning.
By all means, celebrate the day if it's meaningful to you.
Just give it a more dignified name.

I had never heard of it until recently (last few years). The word is confusing because there are several days in June that are numbered in the teens. It sounds childish, like the way a small child would get confused about the date of a holiday and make up his/her own word for it.

And that being said, I never heard about the horrible Tulsa massacre in public school history class either. There was plenty about the mistreatment of slaves and then freed blacks in the South post Civil War, and then the (what were current events then) going on in the 60s with the marches and passage of the Civil Rights Act. But not a single word about Tulsa. Did they want us to believe that hatred and racism magically ended after 1900, until the 1960s?

So, now that we all know about 'The Tulsa Massacre', what should be the recourse?

Some are pissed off that the area is becoming a 'Get rich off Black History' with all the Museums and Tours.
Some are pissed off at the 'Lost Wealth' of the Families that lived there.
Some people call 'White People' the Enemy.
Some are rethinking 'integration' and 'segregation'.

:) Well. 'Juneteenth' is ethnic. Like, I think 'Yankee' is a slur from the British that Americans embrace. So, trying to 'whitewash' Yankee or Juneteenth would be offensive to those that have embraced the 'word'.

'Tulsa Massacre' is very 'Woke'. Previously it was called the the Tulsa Riot. Yeah, pretty interesting. This could be a good test case on 'Reparations'. The 100 year centennial is a good launch point.

We have a very nice combo of the Lincoln Theater/King Complex district for cultural and educational opportunities and events.. "

I don't recall even hearing about the "Tulsa riots," either.

Personally I think that reparations are stupid this far away from the event. Honor the day as we do with the memory of the Holocaust, so future generations won't let something like that occur again.

If we paid reparations to every ethnic group that were taken advantage of, killed, had the land they lived on taken from them, ect ect ect.....the money would just go in one big circle and we would all end up right back in the same place...LOL When it comes to matters such as this people tend to have fantastic memories when it comes to the injustice done to their group but VERY selective memories when it comes to what their group has done to other groups. Its actually kind of comical when you think about it.
