My guess is that Trump has diminished our stockpile of precision weapons, rendering a massive missile attack on Iran infeasible. And if we launched conventional air strikes using aircraft Trump is terrified of American pilots being shot down and held hostage because it would be reminiscent of Jimmy Carter and the hostages.
