Is Alabama what you want?

Interesting about this Saturday night thing. Here in Blue State Colorado it is always illegal to sell a beer in any retail establishment after midnight, every single night, not just Saturdays. (Bars are different, those are open until 2 AM). It was also illegal to sell any retail beer on Sundays until just recently here in Blue State Colorado (bars were always open though).

When did Colorado turn blue? It took a little while to change the laws, but they changed it. I hope they continue progressing.

I'm not telling the most educated person on the board something he doesn't already know but for those not educated at your level it doesn't matter how much land is in California when the state makes it off limits to development. The whole idea of a balance between supply and demand is supply is allowed to increase to meet the demand. Not how it works in California.

So the state putting artificial barriers up to keep supply low plays a major role in the cost of housing here. Other states that have demand allow new development which helps keep pricing from reaching California levels.

If you profess to care about the working or middle class then explain to me how the California housing model benefits them today. (I'm not talking about the middle class folks who bought in the '70's and are sitting on a nest egg. I'm talking about people today.)

You got nothing here Jarod? You talked about pursuing an 'anti-racist agenda'. What would you say is progressive or 'anti-racist' about California's land use policies and NIMBYism?

You ask others "is this what you want"? Seems appropriate to ask you the same, should we push to restrict housing development across the country like we do in California? Would be great for home values of current home owners but not so much for everyone else.

Wow. I thought you would be in the activist groups that would know when the "Colorado Model" was successful and why it has been copied for other states.

Colorado became a sure blue state in 2008 though. If you can remember, we used to talk about it during Bush's runs. I noted that Colorado would go Bush but I was not sure it would hold for the next Presidential election because of "The Four" (Four Billionaires and Multi-millionaires that got together to buy elections in Colorado). My predictions held true on that one. I sucked predicting that Trump would never be the nominee for the republicans, but my political predictions on a large scale are normally spot on. (Back then I thought that some of the myriad folks running in that primary would realize that if they didn't drop out that Trump would win and some would jump on the sword to stop such a result, I didn't remember or take into account the reality that most folks running for President show borderline if not narcissistic traits).

Anyway the "Colorado Model" definitely was successful and since 2008 Colorado is always listed as at least "leans Democrat" during all election cycles.

The laws changed because of constitutional votes, the politicians were more than happy to leave it as it was. In Colorado it is pretty easy to get signatures to include amendments to the constitution on the ballots. We used this to pass TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights) laws and other things that the legislators and elected officials did not want, like Marijuana legalization (Hickenlooper was the owner of bars, he did not want that competition).

The same people/majority who elected Democrats amended the constitution. Even if the politicians lacked the courage the liberals fixed the problem.
