Technically, you are correct...he could be convicted. In this case, punters would call "acquittal" a prohibitive favorite...and would probably write it PROHIBITIVE FAVORITE.

Yes, the decision not to end the illegal impeachment origins was to show that a fair trial was held by the Senate.

It should be held til after the vote.

My elderly aunt (yeah, even older than I) broke her hip on Monday...and I have been spending 5 hours each day with her in the hospital. Dreary as can be...she is about as negative as is possible to get. It takes me hours after leaving there to get even close to back to normal.

The case has already been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Republicans are being quite unreasonable in refusing to acknowledge the proof.

Further witnesses are required to make it so obvious that even Fox would start calling for removal.

Good for them. This is a different president and the circumstances are different. There is no requirement to name a specific crime. The term 'high crimes and misdemeanors' is a non-specific catch-all term for 'abuse of power.' It is a carry over from old English courts.

As they should. Republicans are very foolish to think the nation will accept a sham trial with no witnesses at all. Most of the nation wants witnesses.

Republicans are all but baiting Democrats to bring another impeachment if they continue to say witnesses should have been called by the House, so the Senate doesn't have to. That smacks of a cover-up. Republicans are playing with fire by playing dumb. There is nothing to stop Democrats from starting another impeachment. This is only Trump's first impeachment...

Trump had every opportunity to call witnesses in the House. None which could exonerate Trump exist, Republicans tried to call immaterial witnesses but that was rejected.

Trump could have taken the oath and testified if he wanted to but he can't tell the truth and would likely have been caught up perjuring himself.

Trump isn't able to 'man-up' like Clinton did.

Clinton took the stand.

Trump takes the cake.
