Congress members may not be willing to provide funding for continued attacks on Iran if they fear for their their political futures.

In fact, they may begin to impeach the current US president, and the Senate could convict him and remove him from office next year.

His successor should be more amenable to Iran's 10 points.

If anything it is making us even angrier at Iran Legion. Americans are an impatient lot,...we don't like things to drag out. Time to just wipe Iran off the map and be done with it. Take their oil as war booty.

There is no "blockade on the strait". All merchant vessels unaffiliated with Israel and the USA may pass, subject to conditions we have outlined clearly.

Iran has repeatedly stated that the strait is not fully closed but is closed to vessels linked to the U.S., Israel, or their "allies/aggressors." Non-hostile merchant ships may receive supervised safe passage only if they meet these requirements (per IRGC and Iranian government statements):
  • Prior coordination and approval: All transits must be arranged in advance "in coordination with Iran's Armed Forces" (effectively the IRGC). This often involves direct or diplomatic contact (e.g., via ambassadors or flag-state negotiations). Iran issues specific permissions on a case-by-case basis. Ships must follow the IRGC-issued map and northern traffic lanes closer to the Iranian coast. The vessel/owner/flag must not be linked to U.S. or Israeli operations or ports "to and from" which Iran deems hostile. Ships from countries Iran views as friendly or neutral (e.g., China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Iraq) have received exceptions. Humanitarian/essential cargoes (e.g., fertilizer, livestock feed) have separate approvals.
