IT'S OFFICIAL: President Trump announces the largest steel plant in American HISTORY, which will be built in IOWA

I have seen no one talking about that......AI says it will be near Wever which is all farm land.
Well what I am saying if it is going to be the biggest steel mill ever built in the USA it will have to be really HUGE ,
I have seen not only the huge one just south of Buffalo NY, it is OVER 5 miles long if not longer and about that wide.
And the ones in Pitt. PA are even bigger.
Then Poor Richard was saying " The plant is scheduled to be completed in the next month."
Hell they wont even has the first furnace built in a month let alone starting to make steel.
They have to run train tracks build buildings and more.
ONE month is nothing but a big pipe dream.

They will need to build new plant-specific track — a spur, sidings, unloading loops, yard capacity, or a connection from the chosen parcel to the BNSF mainline. That's completely normal for a new industrial complex of this size.

But they are not proposing to invent a railroad from northern Minnesota to southeast Iowa. The mine is already connected to BNSF/CN, and Lee County already sits on heavily used BNSF mainline infrastructure.

and one month? where is that coming from?

They are saying biggest re capacity not land use but certainly it will eat up a lot of prime farmland, when it could have been built in traditional steel areas and destroyed zero farmland. The pellets could go by boat to say Indiana or Ohio.

The Pellet plant is to be done in about a month.....up till now they have produced none.

This whole idea might be pie in the sky......I need to see some expert analysis.

Poor Richard Saunders said:
The pellets can be made. The tech is pretty straight forward. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the next month.

Where do you get this?

So now we’ve gone from “there aren’t enough trained workers” to “the rail logistics don’t work” to “but think of the precious farmland!”

The goalposts are moving so fast they ought to put them on the same rail line as the pellets.

And the sudden reverence for Iowa farmland is especially funny considering how many acres people are perfectly willing to cover with solar panels.

Apparently corn ground becomes sacred only when somebody proposes putting a steel mill on it.

Here’s a quaint little American concept: property rights. If a landowner decides the property is worth more to them sold for industrial development, and a company decides it is worth buying, they get to make that transaction. You don’t get to declare somebody else’s ground permanently reserved for corn because you personally think the mill ought to be in Indiana or Ohio.

If the project is economically stupid, the economics will kill it. If the pellet plant fails, the transportation costs don’t work, labor can’t be found, financing collapses, or construction costs make the whole thing uneconomic, then there’s your argument.

But endlessly cycling through workers → trains → farmland → whatever comes next just looks like searching for a reason America shouldn’t build the thing.

At this point you’re doing a remarkably good impression of a volunteer spokesman for every Chinese and Russian talking point about why the United States supposedly can’t build large industrial projects anymore.

Give it another page and I assume we’ll discover the real problem is that the steel mill might frighten the soybeans.

Calm down. This is a really big deal and good for our country long term.

Here's another one that will get your panties in a twist. Just a few short yearrs ago this would have been built in CA but...............

An announcement provides no jobs. Trump's lies provide no jobs. When corporations say they will provide jobs for huge tax breaks ,they never provide the number of promised jobs. They do get the tax breaks though,

Not trying to be a hater, but who in their right mind, trust anything made in America these days? We harvest to WORST LUMBER, THE DIRTIEST OIL, THE WORST APPLICANCES, THE WORST FUCKIN CARS, NOTHING IN THIS COUNTRY, INCLUDING STEEL WILL BE WORTH THE PAPER ITS WRITTEN ON, ESPECIALLY IF TRUMP HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT.

DERP DERP

1790901038777.pngNow I'm understand the Make America Great Again promises of Trump....Trump seems to think that a ballroom, a helicopter pad, a reflecting pool, a Qatar AF1 plane, a cemented rose garden, a soon to be Trump monument over Alington, the Kennedy center and kicking out immigrants has fulfilled his promises of MAGA.

Tomorrow the citizens get told what the state give-away package is......might even get some details on where it will go and how much farmland will be lost for the plant footprint....though certainly much more will go for housing the workers and plant support.

Could you put that in large type please?

If this idea was great for the people of IOWA would they keep almost every bit of information secret till the day the state runners rammed the give-away package through?

Dont Be Dumb.

IT'S OFFICIAL: President Trump announces the largest steel plant in American HISTORY, which will be built in IOWA

There is a reason that everyone is going for more smaller steel plants these day. I do not know what it is, but I know trump does not either. If I were trump, I would find out why this is such a bad idea... But I guess I am not trump.

So trump will spend a huge amount in subsidies, and drive out of business the smaller efficient steel plants, all so he can claim to have the biggest. America will be lessened... AGAIN!!!

I have yet to see any expert opinion on this......it is not impossible that large is a good idea for the electric plants that use pellets......but the chances that IOWA is the best place to put it near zero.

It is just a really bad idea to hand this decision over to trump.

Re how Trump claims are worth zero:

THE EVIDENCE CHANGEDTRUMP ANNOUNCED A $54 BILLION SOUTH KOREAN INVESTMENT IN ALASKA LNG.SOUTH KOREA SAYS:NO, WE HAVEN'T DECIDED TO INVEST.Trump presented the Alaska project Wednesday as part of a massive South Korean investment package. But Seoul says the actual agreement was to BEGIN A REVIEW of the project, subject to commercial viability and Korean legal requirements.South Korea's Industry Ministry:“NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE ON WHETHER TO INVEST OR ON THE SIZE OF THE INVESTMENT.”And South Korea's industry minister says he raised objections directly with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick because the announcement went beyond what had been agreed. That's not a minor diplomatic wording dispute. There's an enormous difference between:SOUTH KOREA WILL INVEST $54 BILLION.and:SOUTH KOREA WILL REVIEW WHETHER TO INVEST.The broader investment package is real. The $54 billion Alaska commitment isn't finalized.TRUMP ANNOUNCED THE INVESTMENT.SOUTH KOREA ANNOUNCED THE RECEIPT.NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE.
