Jacksonville Mass Shooting

Gaming is a weird subculture. I know some folks my age into it, but not that many. Our local university has a video gaming team that competes and conventions and such. Very odd to me, but as one person told me, making it a team is the only way you can get those kids to show up for class because too many cuts=kicked off team.

being good at gaming actually makes you a celebrity with a good income.

So does being a reality star and dozens of other things. Still doesn't seem any less odd to me. I suppose it is slightly better than being a social media influencer on the employment ladder, but it is not mine to reason why n the end. It is what it is.

In a thread the other day, I believe I mentioned that we need another mass shooting before November to wake the 18 years olds up again. I wonder how many more we'll see by then?

You are one sick fuck. If you think we need these mass shootings to "wake the 18 years olds up again," I hope you're the next victim.

Ho hum, another day in america. Thoughts, prayers, half staffing of flags, hand wringing.

Shouldn't all the written laws on the books have prevented this? They say it's illegal for one person to murder another. Why didn't those words prevent it?

First person shooting game run amok.
Gamers are generally desensitized to murder.

I don't think it desensitizes them to murder. In this case, the shooter could not bear to live with the real life consequences of his actions ... and, thankfully, shot himself.

The problem is that for some, they are so emotionally invested in virtual reality ... that it becomes more important than the real world for them. I've known young gamers that take real pride in their "accomplishments" in virtual realms ... as if it was a real world feat.

Some people are just fucking crazy and would snap the same if it was video games or something else like getting fired from a job (origin of the phrase "going postal"). Video games are just so much more prolific now, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened, especially in America.

I remember hearing about someone get stabbed because he wouldn't stop throwing in Street Fighter II.
