Most of them were just kids (but were really men). The French show great reverence for their sacrifice.
Indeed.
Most of the countries where Americans fought and died in Europe show great reverence for those brave young heroes, as is fitting.
Young American boys (men) fighting for another country’s freedom.
My father volunteered to rescue a soldier who was wounded and lying alone on the battlefield, rounds being fired over his head. The soldier survived and drove from Kansas to our home in Tennessee, after the war, to thank my father for saving his life. I did not know of this until years later when my sister told me. He rarely spoke of the combat and the suffering that he and others endured.
He received the Army Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) for heroism under fire.

The judge could have been a lawyer for Carroll.
The Judge's bias was obvious. One example is there was an 2014 episode of Law and Order where a woman was raped by a rich guy in a Bergdᴏrf dressing room after Carroll admitted she was familiar with it the Judge immediately stopped any more questions on the subject. This may be where Carroll got the idea for her lie from.
