I'm not denigrating Dr. Biden's accomplishments, but the degrees are very different. The easiest classes you can take in college are usually graduate education courses. Many public school teachers and administrators get a masters or doctorate in education because it takes much less time than other graduate degrees. They provide the higher pay teachers get for higher degrees with much less work, not requirement for a year of full-time study, no foreign language requirement, and a dissertation that requires much less than a Ph.D.

Accreditation agencies require college teachers to have a graduate degree and at least 18 hours of graduate work in the subject taught. So, a person could have only 18 graduate hours in, for example, history and no undergraduate hours. Dr. Biden got an M.A. in English so she has experienced the more rigorous courses in (non-education) graduate classes.
 
Also this idea that Biden should not be called DR is supported by the AP Style rulebook.....which is actually supposed to the Mind Molder LawBook.

Special rules for special people is how we roll in this Dark Age, like all Dark Ages.

Who cares?

A doctorate degree in art history is relatively easier to achieve than a doctorate degree in quantuum physics. Regardless, anyone who has put the effort and commitment to obtain a doctorate in particle physics, art history, or education has earned the professional right to be called doctor.

This really just comes down to the bitter tears of disgruntled, butt-hurt Trump worshippers, does it not?

Not in my case. I was just trying to clarify the distinction between those claiming she had a Ph.D. Sure, she can be called doctor, but those with Ph.D s look down on those with Ed.D s because it is not the same rigor.

I know lawyers (college instructors) who want to be called doctor. In past years a law degree was an LL.B (bachelor of law). Today, it is the JD (Juris Doctor). Same degree, different name.
