Kathryn Limbaugh gives update after late husband Rush Limbaugh laid to rest

Rush was an entertainer. He turned 'being captivating' into money.

I tried to listen to him many times but it rarely worked out. Too many commercials. I don't like commercials. Have no patience for commercials. I don't want to have my time wasted by somebody trying to sell me something I don't want to buy. Why should I? I refuse. I just turn it off.

There were a few times I tuned in and must have caught him right after a commercial because I actually got to listen to him for a while. I totally didn't like him. First of all, he was heavily biased. He would never allow a well-spoken liberal on the show to counter his points. Ever. If he ever allowed a liberal on, and the liberal began to make a good point, Rush would rudely interrupt or cut him off. Rush would NEVER allow a poignant liberal point to be made on his show. Never once. It was always about him, what he thought. He would control the program. He would control all the content. It was all his view and nothing else.

He was an entertainer and an entertainer's job is to keep the attention of the listeners. That, he did through making things up about liberals which were not true. He was the classic stereotyper. He would find and example of a liberal doing or saying something he could take issue with, and then carry on as if this typifies all liberals, as if they are all the same. That's total BS, but his audience wanted to believe it. Rush created and forwarded hatred and division in America, and he got rich doing it.

If Kathryn admired him for that, and why wouldn't she, then it only seems natural that she wants to keep the golden goose laying after death.

But I tell you this much.

Profiteering on hatred and driving the country apart does not make America great.

I use to listen to his program pretty much from it's inception in Sacramento.. It was much more raw & not as well orchestrated..

His "guests" were of course screened, but prob not that well & many got through to ask him hard questions, address his blind side/s & simply take his bull shit to task.. He would usually not let it get to far before he would cut them off for some bullshit reason & then set to excusing away & bullshitting his way around or out of it........

Once he left town I didn't listen to him & I was sure he would fail, eventhough I was a semi-fan...

He would always say you needed to listen to him for six weeks before you start getting him..........lol

six weeks times five days a week for 4 hours..... & 99% of that is simply one side-unopposed or challenged.....:palm:

He did well for himself

You have an uneducated guy w/ hs diploma able to hustle/bullshit the minds of millions of "lightly educated" such as himself as well as to bag a few bigger fish willing to prey on his fans..

trump essentially ran a similar game of a daily barrage of bullshit fed to his fans to hold their interest & more importantly their anger, frustration & need for simple answers & dummied down solutions..

Yup. Not surprised he would say you have to listen for 6 weeks before you really understand him. That's totally BS, of course. But it does take advantage of a well known, little-used, trait of humans. Namely, humans are creatures of habit. Anything you do on purpose for more than 2-3 weeks becomes habit, after which the individual no longer has to make a point of doing that certain thing. They just do it without thinking. Perfect for Rush to make lots of money.

I am just amazed so many people are so willing to listen to commercials. I guess that's just another bad habit.

I broke myself of that as soon as I got a mute button. I eventually fired the cable company years ago. I was pissed at them. The original hook to get me to get cable was that the picture was going to be clearer, and in return for my monthly check, I would get all this commercial-free programming. And that's the way it was originally. But it wasn't meant to last. All too quickly enough they slid all the commercials right back in. That was when I realized I had been had. So I dropped them. Found other better habits. Never went back. Love it. Saved tons. Bought things. Went out for nice dinners and concerts. Had fun.

I turned my cable off for good over ten years ago but I saw that coming way back.

In NYC & San Jose they had it in the late 70's & was getting popular in the early 80's & the programing was terrible IMHO other than MTV, which gradually turned to shit..

The thing w/ his program, trump tweets etc is they go in unfiltered @ that point-no questions asked, they merely find ways to make it fit their preconceived bias etc..

My X-father in law was a very intelligent, logical & post importantly practical-businessman who had little to no interest in politics..

When he retired he began wasting time in the yard, as most do & listening to talk radio..

It took a while but he began dropping talking points into conversations & projecting limbaugh conclusions.

I knew exactly were he was coming from & also knew he had walked down the path of conclusions w/ rush & had done no independent checking, questioning or even reasoning..

I was a bit surprised, & perhaps disappointed that the family/company "patron saint" could be so gullible out of his element..

So I chose my times & places so as to not embarrass or seem to challenge his "wisdom" & simply asked fundamental questions related to those conclusions and the facts upon which they were based.

It did not take long before he stopped listening to "talk radio" or listening to his partners & golf buddies parroting half cocked/half truth talking points from high school grad, self-proclaimed experts.........

If he was on this site he would be beaten to death daily for his unsupported bull shit....

Did you know he once had a tv show?? It lasted I think a couple episodes where he got his fat ass tore up by ppl..

Seems O' high school jock aka draft dodger hawk lacked the sack to go toe to toe w/ women & men putting him in his place & giving him answers he was not prepared for..

I can still recall the wide eyed looks on his blank face as he was put in his place..

Looked like Mitch McConnell or a deer in the headlights.........

Like your typical keyboard comando he is a big man w/ a big mouth hiding in his dark room behind his big mic, screeners, producers & drugs
