The irony and the hypocrisy of it all is that it was Obama who colluded with Putin to destroy US plans to invade Syria by using the same tactic that sort of worked on Iraq. Obama's 'red line' was the demand that was almost certainly prearranged with Putin. Then Putin, Assad, and Obama laughed at the establishment all the way to the bank. It was pure brilliance on Obama's part to use the same con job that worked so well in Iraq, to make sure that the Syria war would never happen.

And thusly, US hegemony in the ME has been terminated!

Obama wanted to strike Assad bad enough that he almost went to congress for approval—until it became apparent he didn’t have enough votes to approve military action. The clear lesson is that military actions in the Middle East have very little support amongst the unwashed masses. The ‘incompetent’ Trump took note of that and ran on ‘getting out of stupid wars’.

But Putin and Obama did collude on deal about Assad: it turned out to be worthless because Assad used chemical weapons again in April 1917. Trump didn’t dither on it: he went in and smacked both Putin and Assad on the wrist with a single, limited strike on a Russian airbase.

In any event, with so little to gain and so much to lose, we have zero business getting involved *militarily* in Syria. What’s sad is so many common people get that and too many of our leaders don’t. That’s why the Perpetual War guys are always looking for ways to skirt Congress.

And that’s why congress wants no part in voting on it. Cowards, the whole lot of them.
