Libs including Obama laughed at Romney for stating Russia was a threat

Sometimes you laugh at a stupid joke because you don't realize it's based on someone's reality. What was funny yesterday might not be funny today.

Yeah, at that point he was absolutely correct. It was later that Putin went expansionist. One factor was the Olymipics. Putin's backing was as low as Trumps in Russia. but the Olympics were a big deal that got the people on his side. And, their PED expertise made them very successful in the events.

and conservatives in the '30's believed Hitler was good a guy. What is your point?

JFK diary calls Hitler 'stuff of legends'

Kennedy, then 28, predicted "Hitler will emerge from the hatred that surrounds him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived".

"He had in him the stuff of which legends are made," he continued.

Kennedy wrote the entry in the summer of 1945 after touring the German dictator's Bavarian mountain retreat.

And militarily speaking, they weren't when Romney made his comment and honestly, they aren't much of a threat to us right now. They wouldn't dream of trying to attack us or engage us in a ground war. I doubt they're even anywhere near interested.

I think what they want to do is bring us closer down to their level.

If you look at it from a technical standpoint with all the emotion and disgust at what he did removed, Kennedy was correct.

Hitler could have gone the other direction and been hailed as one of the greatest leaders in history had he not been insane.

JFK LOVED HITLER!!!!!!! Does not matter why...he loved and admired the man

Obama looks like a genius compared to the general Russiaphobia sweeping politicians today.

The reset was a good idea -remove sanctions and start over, but then Obama screwed it up with his meddling in the Uk's maidan.
That wrecked all chance for more then a zero sum relationship and led to the annexation of Crimea.
Even the war in Donbass is Putin pushing back on the west/Kyiv reaching in to Luhansk & Donetsk autonomous region.

Putin needs a bufferzone between NATO states and Russian, or at least a bufferzone of parts of Ukraine.
Recall both the west and Russia have signed agreements like the Budapest Memorandum that guarantees Ukraine as a neutral state

Still the worse Obama ever did was refuse to talk to Putin. Obama never demonized either Putin or Russia
like is common now.
Thankfully Trump understands as well that if there is a path to arms reduction talks, name calling is counterproductive

Right-winger = liar.

From your link:

The original (diary) will be auctioned for the first time on 26 April in Boston by longtime owner Deirdre Henderson, who worked as a research assistant for Kennedy while he was a US senator with White House ambitions.

He wrote that Hitler "had boundless ambition for his country which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him".

He gave Ms Henderson the diary in order to inform her of his views on foreign policy and national security, she said.

In a description of the auction, she wrote: "When JFK said that Hitler 'had in him the stuff of which legends are made', he was speaking to the mystery surrounding him, not the evil he demonstrated to the world."

"Nowhere in this diary, or in any of his writings, is there any indication of sympathy for Nazi crimes or cause," she continued.

The diary also contains JFK's thoughts about the British election and Winston Churchill, who Ms Henderson called his "idol".

You should try actually reading what you post links to.

The world leaders barely looked at each other as they shook hands after talking about the stalling peace conflict in Syria, minutes before sitting down to economic discussions in Peru.

Now they think Russia is the Devil :palm:
Hey genius, remember MEDVEDEV? Putin's assumed (just a) placeholder who showed some promise and some balls. A modernization program. And he sure as hell seemed less KGB. And things were pretty calm for almost 3 years. We were cautiously optimistic.

I did NOT laugh at Romney but did, at that point, wonder why Putin, then?? So bite me if I held out some modicum of hope.
