Donald Trump cannot have obstructed justice because he is America's top law enforcement officer, his lawyers have argued according to leaked 20-page memo.

The letter sent in January from Mr Trump’s legal team to Robert Mueller, the special counsel leading the Russia investigation, was obtained by The New York Times. It argued that Mr Trump is the country’s “chief law enforcement officer” and therefore claims of obstructing justice “would amount to him obstructing himself”.

I think it is pretty clear President Trump truly believes he is above the law, and his base remains loyal. The cult survives and thrives.

Yeah, the one he lied about saying it was because of how unfair it was to Hillary. Did anyone believe that? Then he told Russians and others it was about Russia. Today Rudy said Trump wrote the Jr. memo. That is his 3rd story on that. Can't trust anything Trump says.

Well he is the chief law enforcement officer.
 
The basic gist of the argument is that Trump can't be prosecuted for doing something that is within his legal authority. Obstruction can't occur if there is no illegal act committed, and firing subordinates (such as Comey, or even Mueller), is within his authority. Now, he may also think he's above the law, but, that's not going to hurt him in this instance.
 
My understanding, that in America, NO ONE is above the Law.

I'm pretty sure all the 'deplorables' felt this way when Bill Clinton was in Office)
 
It is disgusting that Donald Trump is president of the United States. But it is even more disgusting to hear people defending him for being the disgusting creature he is.

At some point, the people doing that have got to come to their senses.

I hope that happens soon.

OK. I think it's clear. You don't like President Trump. At all. And you're angry at all these people who "defend" him. Exactly what is it that you're accomplishing by repeating this over and over? (besides personal venting;) And you want people to "come to their "senses". Meaning what?
I honestly don't understand your comments like "Go kick someone and pretend you are helping them." What????

You seem to disagree with me...which is your right.

I do not like Donald Trump. I think he is childish, boorish, and incompetent.

I think the people defending and supporting him are doing our nation and humanity a disservice, so I speak out against it.

Not sure what you mean with the rest of your post...but in my opinion, the American conservatives posting in this forum are the kind of people turning our nation into a cesspool.

If you have a problem with me mentioning that...no matter how often I mention it...you have to deal with it, because it is YOUR problem, not mine.

I do disagree with you...there are many posting here, both conservative and liberals, who are turning this nation into a "cesspool" (interesting choice of words) ...it's certainly not just conservatives. A very small representation of all Americans post here, btw...and the ones here are pretty radical...and often vile...I've never seen a forum like this...but knowing that there are people "out there" like the ones who post here make me work even harder....
You don't have to like President Trump and if it makes you happy to bash him, go right ahead. It's not a problem for me...I just asked why...
I won't bother you again...have a good day....(just about every time we bake now for others, I think...I'd give Frank a good price on a birthday cake-hope you find a conservative someday who will actually do that for you:)

I find it so funny that Mueller puts his head down and does the work, but Trump can't shut up.. Who looks like a snowflake?

Many condemn the Donald for being a lying ignoramus and world-class blowhard, but the same people never consider his achievements, such as delivering a budget - the greatest budget ever! - denucelarizing Korea, and starting a trade war with America's closest allies. Do these things count for nothing?

I keep asking the very same things, but I never get an answer.
If you live close, we'll bake or cook anything you need (perhaps tarts?)... The only people we would ever refuse are our stalkers. You aren't one of "Them", are you;)
