MAGA conservatives got full of themselves

They forgot that winning required a big tent. They decided the libertarian wing was the enemy and that independents weren't needed. They thumbed their noses at conservatives who are tired of endless wars, foreign entanglements, and empire building.

They confused loyalty to Trump with loyalty to conservative principles, and treated anyone who disagreed as a traitor.

Coalitions require compromise. They demanded obedience.

Now they are discovering that they don't have much of a coalition left.

they didn't just alienate Democrats. They alienated people who helped put them in power.

I'd enjoy watching this defeat a hell of a lot more if I weren't painfully aware that these idiots have done long lasting damage to the very movement they claim to represent.

They'll probably blame everyone who abandoned them before they'll ever consider why those people left.

Good post but i would g further.

the Republican party was prior a party that truly worked for the Middle Class. Even during Reagan who gave the US the fake 'trickle down' theory of pushing more wealth to the rich at the expense of the MC, they still had solid support for the MC.

But since Reagan the party has been coopted almost ENTIRELY by special interest money. Corporate and Oligarch and the ENTIRE republican agenda has been directed and making them richer at the expense of the MC.

They give talking points to all the Populist issues they know the MC wants but they have no intention, NONE, to enact one iota of it and quite the opposite they plan to do the opposite.

I hope Trumps extremes make them all see it now. I am not so sure the average voter does.
