Hello Sirthinksalot,
Hi Politalker,
These two people were clearly idiots. The guy would have found some other stupid way to cause his own demise if not for this. It's very disingenuous to blame the president for an individual's stupidity. The anti malaria drugs are showing promise. Why shouldn't the president be able to say so?
The president should not have even talked about that for this very reason. Of course these people made a very wrong decision. They did this to themselves. DT cannot be blamed for what they did. But a mature responsible president never would have even talked about something so controversial and unproven. And dangerous. That's what's wrong with DT. He doesn't understand normal social boundaries. He doesn't think through the possible consequences.
He tries to make all the decisions, and he doesn't listen to good advice. There is no good advice for him, really. All he has left around him are yes-men. Everybody else is gone, anybody that tried to talk some sense into him. His entire administration, and the entire Republican party is kissing up to him because he has such a fragile ego.
You can't run a country like that. Nobody wants to tell him anything he doesn't want to hear. Nobody can write a mature responsible statement for him to say, something a team came up with, that he will follow. He's got to ham it up, try to pull some you-know-what out of his you-know-where. This is when we need a real leader. We don't need a slick-talker shooting from the hip on his own, after listening to right wing radio.
If he does take good advice, (rarely,) he often unpredictably reverses himself after he watches the media that he says is so horrible. If the reaction is bad, or he thinks his poll numbers are dropping, he'll do anything to turn that around. Running the country should not be about making the president popular! That's a good recipe for getting the country banging it's head against the wall on a sugar high.
We need responsible mature leadership and we are missing that badly right now.
