OH HOUSTON!

As Ukraine continues to make advances including strikes in to the interior of Russia, Putin is now being forced to address them with his public who are now, for the first time beginning to feel the threat of this war at home, at work, and in how they engage day to day in the city.

Putin Admits Ukrainian Strikes Driving Fuel Shortages

President Vladimir Putin acknowledged Sunday that Russia is facing a "certain shortage" of fuel following a wave of repeated Ukrainian strikes targeting oil refineries and domestic supply lines.

"As for strikes against critical infrastructure in general, and energy infrastructure in particular, of course, these attacks on our infrastructure facilities create problems," Putin said in a Kremlin-published interview. "That's obvious."

Some Russians are turning on Putin as drones hit Moscow. Does it matter?

'Not only are they not winning, but the war is coming closer,' says Pulitzer-prize winner Anne Applebaum

Last week, Moscow residents looked up at black smoke hanging over the city as Ukrainian drones buzzed overhead.

It was Ukraine's largest drone attack on the Russian capital since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022. Hundreds of flights were delayed or cancelled, while a major oil refinery on the city's outskirts was repeatedly struck and set ablaze.

"If Ukraine is going to burn, your Moscow will burn too," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The latest wave of strikes has brought the war much closer to home for many Russians, disrupting daily life and eroding their sense of safety.

Analysts say the attacks may deepen domestic anxieties as the war drags on.

Russian soldiers ‘surviving average of 20 minutes when they reach frontline due to drone attacks’

GCHQ estimates that half a million Russian troops have been killed - and increasingly this due to drone warfare on the frontline

Russian troops in some areas of the Ukrainian frontline can expect to live for between 20 to 35 minutes due to rising drone attacks, according to an estimate from Russian military bloggers.

The estimate, cited by Oxford historian Peter Frankopan in a report for Foreign Policy, lays bare the increasingly dangerous conditions for the Russian army as Ukraine evolves its drone capabilities.

Moscow has been accused of employing a ‘meat-grinder’ strategy, in which it sends vast numbers of troops to the Ukrainian frontline in an attempt to slowly grind down Kyiv’s heavily-fortified defences.

But with drones now dominating the war, Russia is losing men at a fast rate, with an average of 30,000 monthly casualties in 2026. Some estimates even suggest Russia is suffering eight men killed or wounded for every one lost by Kyiv.

The Russian army has begun using tear gas-armed drones to assault Ukrainian positions. The video shows drone strikes in Ukraine using tear gas warheads. The use of such drones helps reduce casualties during assaults on fortified positions, bunkers, and other underground structures. Some Ukrainian units have begun using gas masks, as shown at the end of the video.
