So, I don't know. But here are the facts:

A woman has given several interviews to Politico and she has accused Platner of sexual assault.

Now, we know Republicans wouldn't give a shit - they'd put Trump in office after being found liable for sexual assault and has been accused of assault by over 2-dozen women.

But - Democrats have always been purists - they excommunicated Al Franken for a disrespectful photo.

So - what do the people of Maine do now?

Mel Reynolds (D-IL), U.S. House candidate/representative in the early 1990s.

In 1994, while under indictment for sexual assault and related charges involving a 16-year-old campaign volunteer (including statutory rape, child pornography solicitation, and obstruction of justice), Democrat Rep. Mel Reynolds continued his re-election campaign. He denied the charges (claiming they were racially motivated) and won re-election in November 1994 with no significant opposition. He was later convicted in 1995 on multiple counts and resigned from Congress.

This is one of the clearest historical examples of a Democrat candidate facing serious accusations (and formal charges) but refusing to drop out and securing victory.

Bill Clinton, 1992 Democrat presidential nominee.

During the 1992 primaries, Gennifer Flowers publicly alleged a long-term extramarital affair with then-Governor Bill Clinton and released tape recordings. This created a major scandal threatening his campaign. Clinton and Hillary Clinton addressed it directly in a 60 Minutes interview, acknowledging marital difficulties but denying the full allegations (Clinton later admitted under oath to one encounter). Clinton did not drop out, rebounded with a strong New Hampshire primary showing ("Comeback Kid"), secured the nomination, and won the general election.

Joe Biden in 2020: The Hunter Biden's laptop story emerged in October 2020, raising questions about family business dealings and potential influence peddling. The Biden campaign and allies pushed back strongly (including via the "51 intelligence officials" letter labeling it as having "all the classic earmarks of Russian disinformation"). Biden did not drop out.
 
Graham Platner has not offered to drop out nor announced that he will end his campaign.

Franken announced his resignation in December 2017 (effective January 2018).

Franken has since done speaking tours, written, and stayed in the public eye, occasionally floating the idea of future runs.
 
Eric Massa (D-NY): Resigned in 2010 amid sexual harassment allegations involving male staffers (which he partially acknowledged while denying others). He later claimed "party pressure" and a "conspiracy" tied to his health care vote forced him out,
