Yes, because the main reason Biden supporters give for why they support Biden, is that he has the best chance of beating Trump. These are people who are willing to vote for anyone to beat Trump. So if Bernie won the nomination, they'd vote for him in the general. For most Biden supporters, it's not about Biden, it's about defeating Trump.
Sure, some Moderates would never vote for Bernie, but there are enough that would.
First of all, I don't like Bernie. I just recognize that he had a better chance of beating Trump and he'd probably be the least bad choice as president.
Secondly, look at Biden's record. Can you honestly say he is a left-wing politician? He's been against expanding healthcare, gay marriage, and abortion, and in favor of the Iraq War and the war on drugs
Finally, how are things like affordable college and healthcare pie-in-the-sky when there are other first world countries that have this? We're not talking about buying every American a mansion and a spaceship, we're talking about things that have been done and work so well, that even Conservatives aren't against these things in Europe.

As for his positions and voting record on the things you listed are concerned... there are always complex reasons for why people vote a certain way. It doesn't mean that they are closed minded or against whatever the issue may be. Sometimes other competing factors come into play. I never buy into the kind of over-simplification you just engaged in. If Biden voted against certain things and for giving Bush authority to use military force in Iraq, I trust his reasoning.

Obama was having trouble winning over voters who were white, old, and moderate to conservative. So he picked Biden. This is another argument against Biden being left-wing in any way. He's always been a right-leaning politician.

No, Bernie never said free healthcare. His plan, Medicare for All, would have given us more in savings. Which to me, doesn't go far enough.

Biden, like a lot of other Senators, voted to give Bush the authority to launch an attack if it became absolutely necessary, they didn't vote for Bush to just go blundering in like he did. They expected Bush to live up to his word that it would be done only as a last resort. Given the complexity of the situation and the unpredictability of Saddam Hussein, I'm not going to hold it against Biden now, nearly twenty years later.
It's easy to second guess with the hindsight benefit you employ, but sometimes when difficult decisions need to be made, the results of those decisions are not always what we would have preferred.
