My ode to Islamophobia

Lovely thought. Did you by any chance see what was happening before you joined the thread? It's what an adult conversation looks like.

It's all well and good to be adult and philosophic about murder when it's not your 11-year old daughter that's the victim.

False appeal to emotionalism.

We all want to stop this. It's the knee-jerk, emotional arguments that tend to prevent an honest discussion on the topic.

Reality of murder. It's more than a philosophy to the victims.

Many innocent muslims will be killed due to the actions of clowns like him. Just like those innocent pre-teen girls in England.

That's the agenda of extremists, yes. It's really not that different from what lunatics like Hitler & Stalin wanted - but they cloak it more w/ the religion.

They're similar insofar as they are all ideologies.

Radical Islam is a political ideology. Why people are hesitant to name it is beyond me. With radical Islam, Islam is both the religion and the ideology: It's pointless to try and separate them.

An al-Baghdadi isn't 'cloaking' his true agenda lol. His agenda is the subjugation of infidels. His political agenda coincides with the religious agenda and basically entails ridding the Middle East of infidels and 'apostate' Muslims so he can set up a caliphate.

Terrorism is just a means to the end. Bin Laden was no different.

it's religious driven for the true believers,it's not political Islam.
The end game of Islam is the apocalypse and anything that facilitates the apocalypse is desirable.

Even the caliphate is but another step in the apocalypse. Recall Baghdadi claims only a spiritual leadership
not political. the caliphate is a religious structure that aims to rule towards the apocalypse

He's called Caliph Ibrahim, named for Ibrahim ibn al-Walid, Umayyad caliph in 744.

Believers pledge to him as this. He is a salafist, harkoning back to the original 3 generations

When is comes to Islam, I place very little weight on the musings of obscure message boarders. I myself have no specific scholarly knowledge or training on Islam. I can admit that. Which is why I tend to read and place weight the opinions of trained Islamic Scholars and Middle East experts.

Anger and youth fan flames of terror – not race and religion

The premise here is that failed states, authoritarian regimes, economics, the rise of unemployment, the rise of a younger generation with little opportunities - and last but not least the destabilization of the Middle East by George Dumbya Bush has lead to a brand of political terrorism that festoons itself with some adornments of Islamic ornamentation.

In short, politics, economics, and failed states are currently fueling the criminal terrorism we see in the Middle East. It is not a question of traditional Islam and established Islamic philosophy.

That's why the POTUS enlisted the aid of so many islamic nations to fight them.

that reads more like the reasons for the Arab Spring to myself

Al-Baghdadi is an Islamic scholar by any measure.

Have you read him?

Yawn, you always reference this guy. He no more represents all of Islam as the Phelps family represents all of Christianity.
"this guy" is abu al-Baghdadi, and has a $10 million reward on his head, and was named head of ISIS
by it's shura council
He's a bit more important then a flake like Phelps

Same idea, though. What she said is essentially correct - neither represents their religion.

why not?
Islam has many sects-is one more valid then the other? ( no) they are different but still parts of the whole of Islam

That's pretty narrow. It sounds more like you WANT his views to represent the religion as a whole. I think there are many who think as you do; it's just easier.

Clearly, that isn't the case. We can look at the #'s and %'s and draw more accurate conclusions.
