Basic human rights. Nothing to do with religion. Too many on the left ignore science because it is inconvenient to them on this topic. pretending that a fetus is not a unique human life.

It is indeed a legal issue. The question is... at what point to we grant basic human rights protections to that unique life. At conception? At birth? or somewhere in between?

My point exactly, now you are arguing morality, your side is right and the other side is wrong, again, it is why the Founders added the Establisment Clause. You think it is a Scientific view, but the other side can produce just as many Scientific views contradicting your's, and it is your religious beliefs that led you to the conclusion

I don't want to debate abortion, it is useless, and I am against abortion, but I realize the importance of not attempting to enforce my morality upon others who don't share the same view.

I don't believe in divorce for religious reasons, do you think it would be acceptable if I had the authority to make divorce illegal in the US? Think of all the various religious beliefs out there and the consequences of their followers attempted to enforce their beliefs on others

First, I am agnostic, so no... religion has no bearing.

Second, wrong, you do not have any scientific views that alter genetics. The product of a human sperm cell fertilizing a human egg cell can result in nothing other than a unique human life. If the fertilized egg implants and continues development, then it is a unique human life. That is genetics. It is basic. It is not disputable.

What IS disputable is the LEGAL side. WHEN to provide basic human rights protections. THAT is based on person opinions and people can legitimately argue different points from conception to birth. All of those are valid. But you are 100% wrong to state there are scientific views that dispute that.
