Not really. It needs supporting, and it will change the weight distribution too. It would require redesigning the whole hull.
And there is a shit ton of wiring considerations, crew flow and so on and so forth....you dont do such major change orders 7 years into a build.....this guy obviously has the good dope.

That isn't the problem. It's far worse. If you return to steam then you need fewer generators for power and have to install steam piping, a pressure bottle for each catapult, and swap out a shit ton of framing on the 03 deck. It ends up requiring a complete redesign of the engineering and catapult spaces.

The island--that's what that "tower" is called--isn't nearly the same level of difficulty. All you have to do with it is reroute the electrical and electronic cabling, and most of that goes to a switchgear on the island itself. The plumbing, the other interconnection issue, is minimal.
