Concrete block with a stucco-like sprayed on concrete coating is used almost exclusively.
And that still has ZERO to do with the nonsense you started.
One block is only 8 inches tall by 16 inches long by in your case either 8 or 10 inches wide. That means EVERY block is a chance for failure, either due to cracking or more likely improper seal at one of its four joints which means moisture retainage. Like I said,............ its frikking archaic.
What bullshit. I've never seen a concrete block, once cemented into a wall, just fail for no reason.
The only reason a block wall would fail is if the foundation or slab began to settle due to softening ground underneath. Then you'd have to call a company like Ram Jack to come out and jack the wall back up into place and support it with a deep driven piling.
And even if one did fail for some odd reason, a halfway decent mason could replace it in a few minutes while the rest of the wall would continue to stand unaffected.

My house, like every other one I know of, has a monolithic poured concrete slab with a continuous rebar reinforced footer around the perimeter and concrete block exterior walls with the wall that divides the garage from the living area also of block.
The gold standard of residential construction for decades and likely to remain so.
