Stupid people, Silver is great for bacterial infections, I use it on burns as well, but useless against viruses.
Ventilators are for basically hospice use. The majority sadly are simply waiting for time to run out. All medical staff know this.
Most try to avoid this procedure at all cost. It's a pretty horrible procedure to go through as well. Being tied down, intentional
paralyzation to prevent movement. A lot of people sign papers in their living wills stating they do not ever want this in their final
moments. Can't say as I blame them. The machine is basically doing the "breathing" for them.
There are plenty of jobs out there. I saw no end of help wanted signs. I see retail people literally falling down from all the overtime they are working without support. I am also in talks for a huge amount of high end software engineering work. I have never seen anything like it.
The painful fact is many are not educated enough to get the high education work they could do from home, and want more money than the low education work that is now available can do. The "protestor" has a nice looking, very big car that she must make loan payments on, and she has little education. She is too "proud" to take the work that is available, so she demands we keep supporting her by finding her a free job. Things are tough, and we cannot support her kind to the extent she wants.
This is a harbinger of things to come. We are automating low education, AND THEN HIGH EDUCATION, out of the workforce. One day I might be next to her screaming for a "free job".

There is a balancing act to do here, and we are going to repeatedly get the balancing wrong. Alt Right lies about the choices being simple are not helping.
Lets say we ignore the balance, and just accept the 10 million dead... There is no way we have an healthy economy with 10 million people dying all at once, and the healthcare system collapsing. Either way we go, we will have a collapsing economy, and lots of deaths. We should try to find the best terrible solution, that saves as many lives and as much of the economy as possible.

About 80% of Covid-19 patients put on ventilators will fully recover, assuming they are not pulled off the ventilator. The amazing thing about Covid-19 is it either kills you, or you completely recover (or so far that is what it appears).
Maybe for people who do not have health insurance. For the rest of us the reason they try to avoid it is because it is terribly uncomfortable. But if it saves your life... Go for it.
