NY Times and MSNBC humiliate themselves by failing 3rd Grade math

Government shouldn't even be INVOLVED in such things in the first place. It's beyond their constitutional authority. And government always has the reverse Midas touch (turns everything it touches to shit). But Bloomberg could have dumped his money into anything from Wounded Warrior, to YMCA, to Shriners and made a huge difference in a lot of lives, instead of investing it all in the most expensive vanity project ever constructed...a monument to himself...which ended up crumbling spectacularly for all the world to see anyway. What an embarrassing fool.

I agree. That's why I said doing such things is wasted money and only creates more dependency.

If the bleeding heart leftists that claimed to care so much for the "less fortunate" actually gave of themselves the level they claim to care, while poverty might not be eradicated, the rest of us wouldn't be forced to fund what they support.

Charity begins at home and voluntary charity is noble.

When the government takes from those who work to give to those who don’t, that’s not charity, that’s theft.

The government has no Constitutional authority to engage in forced charity.

The “no work” requirement for welfare is a joke as local government has numerous ways to bypass the work requirement.

Who is exempt from participating in Public Assistance work activities?
The following is a list of ways that people can be exempt from Public Assistance work activities:

If you are under age 16;
If you are under age 19 and attending high school, vocational school or technical school full time;
If you are 60 years of age or older;
If you are ill or injured and unable to participate in work activities for up to 3 months;
If you are determined to be disabled or incapacitated by DSS;
If you are needed in the home to care for another family member who has a physical or mental impairment. You must be the only one able to care for that person;
If you are in the last 30 days of pregnancy, with medical proof of the due date;
If you are the parent or caretaker relative of a child under 3 months old and you are actually caring for the child. This exemption can be extended by DSS up to 12 months. However, there is a 12-month lifetime maximum.

They are not the only ones who are bad at grade-school math. Just over a week ago:

Truth Detector says

These two LEFTISTS have spent 451.3 MILLION to get elected. Can you imagine the amount of poverty they could have reduced with all that?
More proof that political power means more to the Party of the Jackass than poverty or the lives of Americans.

Tranquillus in Exile says

Yeah, they could have given $1.50 to every American! That would relieve some poverty.
