NYT admits Jan 6 committee all about getting Trump

Good. He needs to be "gotten." He needs to be forced to face what he did, and receive punishment for it. So do all of those who conspired with him to overturn an election and install a non-elected dictator rather than a lawfully-elected POTUS.

It's only his fellow fascists who cannot see the truth here.
Agreed as should all traitors, terrorists and criminals.

I doubt Trump will see more punishment than the dismantling of TrumpCo and informal house arrest at Mar-a-Lago. The best thing we can look forward to seeing from Trump is the announcement of the Trump Presidential Library and Casino.

I've been saying this for a while now, the Jan 6 committee is all about Trump 'impeachment' #3, not about anything else much.

It doesn't matter what side of this you're on, whether you like Trump or hate him, but rather everyone needs to admit what this committee is really about rather than claim some diversion.

Pelosi's behind the whole thing. That's OK. This all goes away in November. The committee and everything, because they are going to be "outta there!".

THIS JUST IN: NYT admits court trials only focused on holding criminals responsible.

After the 1st Hearings; Mark Meadows got a call today from his former secretary and notified him that she will no longer use the paid for lawyer she was provided for by Trump and has attained a new attorney and will now be cooperating with the 1/6 Committee.

It's amazing how many here are for the lynch mob the second that mob is targeting someone they hate. Our justice system is built on trying to be fair to the accused in giving them a chance to defend themselves while avoiding persecution versus prosecution. These are the sort that'd burn down Greenville OK or commit other atrocities because it justified their politics.

Unfortunately, those calling for a lynching of Trump--and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks of the guy here--are on the wrong side of justice. If the Jan 6 committee has the goods on Trump, then like any reasonable grand jury those charges would be presented to a prosecutor and the defendant (Trump) would be charged. What would follow is a standard route to trial where both sides get to present their case all out in the open in a court and to a jury.

Instead, what the Jan 6 committee is doing is holding a show trial where only their side of things is presented in the court of public opinion. They are being purely partisan and political. I would assume they consider their case so weak and fraught with holes that they know it wouldn't stand up if it were tried in a court of law. If it would, I'd think it would already be there and Trump would be facing charges.

I don't have to like or hate Trump to know the difference between justice and the mob. The question on the table is for board members, which do you want, justice or mob vengeance? There are plenty of posts in this thread that say most or all of the Trump haters want the later, and none of the former.

Piss and cry about "targeting" Trump all you want. The committee isn't the justice dept., they're simply trying to establish the events of the day and leading up to it. Then it's up to Garland and the rest of the DOJ to look at that evidence and make a decision.

If you wanted exculpatory evidence then the Republican members of the committee should present it- OH WAIT THEY FILIBUSTERED TO TRY AND PREVENT A COMMITTEE.

Funny how that works huh?

A MOB was what we had on January 6. That mob attacked our Capitol building, wanted to hang the VP, and its aim was to install a tinpot dictator in our White House rather than the duly-elected true president, Joe Biden.

The Committee investigating that day is hardly a "mob." Plus other than subpoenas, it has no power to bring anyone to justice. Once the results are out, that will be up to another branch of the government -- the Justice Dept. If indictments are handed down by them, then the accused will have their day in court, with the best attorneys that #TRE45ON's money can buy. Citizens who love this country and our Constitution support this. Why don't you?

Once again, to repeat, the only mob you are seeing are in the videos of the terrorist attack on January 6.

Wait! No. We can't have that! Politicians upholding their responsibilities to protect the Constitution? We can't have that. We need to elect more Republicans. They have no soul will do absolutely anything, including attacking their own country to stay in power. Republicana are so awesome.

I cannot believe you fucking Nazis trying to peddle this nonsense. You're not doing anyone any good here. Go clean your guns.

Oh, so one wrong should be answered with another hum? Some circular reasoning there. If those wanting justice for Jan 6 intend to get it by mob rule, they are no better than the mob they seek to destroy.

As for the committee, sure they are not a court of law, but to make public all their findings in a totally one-sided fashion means they are willing to forego using a court of law. Why is that? Because they are thoroughly tainting the evidence where it becomes impossible to get a fair hearing and trial. They are left with nothing but mob justice.

Who was it that yelled "lock her up" and by the way, still is? Don't talk to anyone else about attempting to circumvent our justice system.

You're soaking in it, Kitten.

Not me. Yes, I thought the Hildabeast should have been charged and tried for things like her illegal e-mail server, but I never was one yelling "Lock her up!"

Aside from that what you are offering is just a tu quoque fallacy

Saying the other side does it, doesn't justify your side doing it...

<shrug> Ok. Monday's going to so suck for you. Are you ready? Wow.

Jan. 6 Committee Appears to Lay Out Road Map for Prosecuting Trump

He had means, motive and opportunity. But did Donald J. Trump commit a crime?

A House committee explicitly declared that he did by conspiring to overturn an election. The attorney general, however, has not weighed in. And a jury of his peers may never hear the case.

The first prime-time hearing into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol this past week confronted the fundamental question that has haunted Mr. Trump, the 45th president, ever since he left office: Should he be prosecuted in a criminal court for his relentless efforts to defy the will of the voters and hang on to power?

For two hours on Thursday night, the House committee investigating the Capitol attack detailed what it called Mr. Trump’s “illegal” and “unconstitutional” seven-part plan to prevent the transfer of power. The panel invoked the Justice Department, citing charges of seditious conspiracy filed against some of the attackers, and seemed to be laying out a road map for Attorney General Merrick B. Garland to their central target.

This is from the article Gardner keeps lying about. He is too much a pussy to debate.

You do not get to invoke the term "reasoning" when your argue amounts to comparing a pilot light to a 20,000-acre wildfire. Portland had zero to do with trying to overturn an American presidential election, complete with conspiracists, anarchists, seditionists, rioters, deaths, and injuries. No matter how much you try to wish that it is, it is not.

As for the committee, sure they are not a court of law, but to make public all their findings in a totally one-sided fashion means they are willing to forego using a court of law. Why is that? Trump and Co. had a chance to testify before the committee, did they not? They chose not to appear and defend themselves. The findings are still valid. He'll get his chance in an actual court someday, maybe.
