Rep. Henry Cuellar claimed in an interview that the Obama administration tried to cover up the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the United States’ southern border...“It was kept very quiet under the Obama Administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet,”

According to data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency, nearly 70,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the southern border in fiscal year (FY) 2014—the period between October 1, 2013, to September 30, 2014....“We still see the numbers,” Cuellar said. “Not all of them are being separated. Some of them are coming alone.”

DHS officials said 1,995 children had been separated from adults while trying to enter the U.S. along the border between April 19 and May 31 ........t some adults who are not legal guardians of the children they carry over the border take advantage of the separation policy.

“Keep in mind that under the law, you can separate a child if that person, the adult, is not the real parent or the custodian because sometimes we see situations where they’ll bring a child because they know of the policy that we have over here with children,”

Rats are very soon going to regret bringing up this ‘separating families’ nonsense.

DEMOCRAT Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar admitted Saturday that the Obama administration attempted to cover up the child migrant crisis occurring at the Souther border.

“It was kept very quiet under the Obama Administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet,” Cuellar told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield.

Whitfield displayed a 2014 image of migrant children held in cages at a detention center, and Cuellar said that he released similar photos of children separated from their parents.

Cuellar added that the number of children being held at the border right now is similar to the amount during the Obama administration.

“We still see the numbers,” he said, adding that “not all of them are being separated. Some of them are coming alone.”

“Keep in mind that under the law, you can separate a child if that person, the adult, is not the real parent or the custodian because sometimes we see situations where they’ll bring a child because they know of the policy that we have over here with children.”

They weren't trying to keep it quiet. It was talked about openly. IIRC at some point they were looking to buy some closed down college to have a place to camp them out. I vividly remember a news clip of a black woman pissed as hell at Obama over doing so much for illegals and nothing for them. It was one of those moments where I really felt that the DNC was going to be in a lot more trouble than it realized come 2016.

Anyway as I posted the other week, much of this has to do with Hillary's failure as secretary of state. Even progressive The Nation saw Clinton as a failure in their voting guide from 2016 with the succinct subtitle "Support for coup regimes, militarization and privatization, trade deals that wreak economic havoc—they reveal the failure of Clintonism" Yet according to statist democrats we Bernie people who didn't vote for Clinton don't really exist https://www.thenation.com/article/a-voters-guide-to-hillary-clintons-policies-in-latin-america/

Bullshit McGee is talking from his ass again. What is it like 0, and 68 for legitimate discussions? Man you suck at this.

Looks like I missed the big story this working weekend.
Of course no one wants to actually address the central American exodus for economic relief or the inability of Congress to update immigration law.

The Republican will be floundering once again on the House floor this week - unable to coalese around an immigration bill.
The Dems will be in da resistance mode -locked into fevered do nothingness as per usual.
Just another hard working week for DC

Transcript:

FREDRICKA WHITFIELD: There was, according to the Washington Post reporting, a surging number of unaccompanied minors being apprehended at the border. In 2014, there were nearly 70,000 according to the Post reporting. And that same year, there was this viral image of children being kept in a cage at a detention center. (Note: That image was not "viral" in 2014; it became viral this year when it was dishonestly presented as reflecting current conditions. — Ed.)

Do you see any parallels here, how different it is what we’re seeing today from these images?

HENRY CUELLAR: In many ways, I think I was — I don’t know what image you’re using, but I released some of those photos (in 2014) because it was kept quiet under the Obama Administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama Administration was trying to keep this quiet, and I don’t know which image you’re using, but I released some photos that I had gone about those young kids kept there. And we are still seeing the numbers.

And keep in mind, when they talk about putting some of the young kids in those centers, not all of them are being separated. Some of them are coming alone, as Ed said a few minutes ago. Some of them are coming on their own. So it’s not a matter that every single child that we have in those centers are being separated, because some of them are coming alone.

Keep in mind that under the law, you can separate a child if that person, the adult, is not the real parent or the custodian, because sometimes we see situations where they’ll bring a child because they know of the policy that we have over here with children, or at least what we used to have. Or if there’s a criminal offense and, but they’re using this zero tolerance to separate, and that’s an area that I think we need to look at.
