It does.

OTOH, that kind of crime in high crime areas is very much a political issue. At least it is to the people affected by it. Or, maybe they wish it was more of a political issue.

We know why volrocks posted the story, because the crime was committed by black kids. He makes his racial feelings (and attitude towards blacks in particular) pretty well known. He doesn’t hide anything.

But other than an opportunity for him to call the kids thugs what’s the actual take away from this?

The OP intentions aside, there’s a couple take aways.

One is the media response. Which, ironically, is as race based as the OP. Race absolutely matters in the extent to which an incident such as this gets reported. I can assure you this is a non-story to practically all the media.

What about if it were a group of white thugs attacking a black man? I’ll wager if even one of the perps were wearing a MAGA hat the coverage would be wall to wall.

Race matters in this country. Just not always in the way it’s typically thought and it affects our politics.

We have all kinds of theft and burglaries and break ins in the Bay Area and they are in the news here every day. Should five kids who beat some one up and steal some AirPods in New York make headlines in the Bay Area because it was black kids who did it?

And in SF we have white people all meth’d up who commit crimes. They aren’t wearing MAGA hats but should their thefts in the hunt for more drugs make national news?

There’s nothing centrist here. I’m well aware of crime statistics and the break down of who commits them.
