Third, you have to take some of the promises with a grain of salt, appearing in Market Watch and the WSJ usually means the company is attempting to effect the cost of their stock, it isn't the only promising news out there and many of the companies involved have done the same thing

many companies are working on a vaccine -but only Pfizer made an announcement

Trump has facilitated the development by waiving lawsuits etc

And forget the cheerleading angle, Trump's cheerleading told us intially it was nothing to worry about, then contained, then no worse than the flu, then will subside by Easter, then May 1rst, then dozen of other opinions that turned out bogus

This would be great, but I have my doubts. We've never EVER been able to develop a vaccine for any other coronavirus. How could we develop the first ever so quickly? I'll believe it when I see it.

It’s no use.

They wouldn’t give Trump credit if he did a Manhattan style project to fast track a vaccine that might save 2.2 million Americans.

Wait a minute...lol.

A vaccine may not be necessary. There’s a group of intensive care docs from different parts of the country that are coordinating on work with corticosteroids to treat the COVID symptoms. They suspect it’s the not the COVID virus, itself, that is killing people.

It’s the immune response to the virus that causes a severe inflammatory process in the lungs. The so called cytokine storm is what is killing people.

This dovetails with some it’s other characteristics: it explains the riddle of how a ‘deadly’ virus can leave so many people with virtually no symptoms—it’s because the virus itself is essentially harmless *unless* it infects someone with a hyperactive immune system.

At any rate, instead of trying to beat the virus these docs are going after the run away immune system and they’ve had success doing it.
