Police assasinated in LA

Since 1981...and it's because of tax cuts and low taxes, nothing more.
You should take a class in Home Economics. First lesson is free: there are two ways to balance your bank account; spend less or deposit more. The fact you think there's only one way is reason #12 not to vote Democrat.

Such a juvenile and lazy approach to finance....

Personal debt and governmental debt are not the same thing. Governments have to run on deficits because governments don't collect all the revenue at once.

Secondly, if there's an emergency that happens like...I don't know...a pandemic, or major hurricanes, or economic collapse, or major forest fires, or once-in-a-generation storms that need recovery, the government is going to have to borrow to do that.

Thirdly, unlike people, governments don't die...so there is no ultimate reckoning for the bill to be due...we could, and have, operated in deficits for eternity. It doesn't matter, really, because there's no due date on the balance. We also know that debt isn't affecting borrowing rates since interest rates have been cut yet again to near zero.

You can't balance a government budget like you balance your personal checkbook; that's reductionist, lazy thinking that does not jive with the economics of government budgets.

Government spending makes up about 15% of GDP. If you cut government spending, and you're not replacing it with any spending, then you are going to contract your economy.

I was doing my best to explain it to you soooo, yes.

Look, I get it...government budgets and debts are just waaaaaaaaay too complicated a subject matter for you...so that's why you have to oversimplify it by making a false comparison to your personal checkbook.

It's OK...I understand why you do that. This isn't a subject you know much about, so that's why your compulsion is to boil it down to a level that you can personally relate to. But again, not everything is about you, least of all government budgets and debts.

So let me ask you this...if the budget for the federal government was balanced each month as it collects revenue, how is government supposed to respond to crises and emergencies, like a pandemic or forest fires? You can't plan for emergencies you have no idea are coming, or how much it'll cost to recover from them. So you have to borrow. But if we did things your way, there would be no funding available to fight the fires on the West Coast, no funding to implement testing nationwide for COVID, no funding to provide people with stimulus or unemployment, no funding to recover losses from consecutive hurricanes.

So you would be content to just let the country burn? And you call ME an extremist...

Condescension and elitism; reason #5 to not vote Democrat.

Well, good thing I don't give a shit about your vote because you don't intend to exercise it in good faith anyway.

And you are the one who responded to me...so you stepped in it, knowing what was going to happen by responding to my post.

You got in over your head, on a subject you know little about, and now you're falling back into your trivial shitposting habits whenever a debate gets to the heart of your ignorance, arrogance, condescension, and/or laziness.

Reason #22 to not vote Democrat; doesn't give a shit about your vote.

Hahaha...no.

I don't give a shit about your vote...singular...as in you, Dutch Uncle, personally.

I care about the votes of people who act in good faith, which you don't do.

And I also note how you have derailed the debate here away from the laughable comparison you made between the government's budget, and your personal checkbook.

That's not by accident. You did that deliberately. And you did it like a little bitch by faking outrage over me being mean to you.

Because I'm retired military? Reason number #3 to not vote Democrat: They hate the military.

I said WE. Not YOU. Not ME.

Thread drift is normal after the first 50 posts or after everyone has posted their opinion on the subject. Here we are, well over 200 posts into a thread, and you are having a conniption over thread drift. Why?

Reason #72 to not vote Democrat; they fabricate lies and use them to ridicule others who do not agree.
