Popular vote watch

According to ABC News, Biden is currently winning the popular vote of American citizens by 3.5 million votes.

Nationwide, only 89% of votes have been counted - which means millions of votes are yet to be counted, likely from Democratic trending mail in ballots, and densely populated states like California, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Given the trajectory, it seems probable that Biden's popular vote margin could approach five million votes when all votes are counted.

In other news, in national elections Republicans have only won a majority-plurality of American voters one single time since the 1980s.

The GOP may be the only major political party on the planet which has virtually gone decades without being able to convince a majority-plurality of their fellow citizens that their policies are superior to the political opposition.

Well said.

Biden winning popular vote by 3.6 million with 89% of votes reported.

Apparently, in France, UK, Spain, Italy, Canada, Germany, Australia the main center-right political parties are periodically capable of winning pluralities in national elections.

The USA Republican Party may be the only major center-right political party on the planet which has virtually gone decades without being able to convince a majority-plurality of their fellow citizens that their policies are superior to the political opposition.

Time to ditch the electoral.

I'm tired of the argument that dirt will be under-represented if we do that. Small states already get disproportionate representation with the Senate.

And because small and rural states are massively disproportionately represented in the Senate it means they also have disproportionate influence in the federal courts with their appointment authority.

It just seems plain greedy for small states to demand to have disproportionate influence in all branches of the federal government.

Wow, that’s amazing. They have often had a mandate of the states, but not a mandate of the people.

It's a good thing that we have this big turn-out. That is reassuring to our Democracy to know that so many Americans believe it is worth their effort to take part in deciding the future of our nation.

Their actions speak louder than any rhetoric otherwise.

Conservatives have spent message board careers hollering that the intent of the EC is to ensure a mandate of the majority of states...

But even that claim is horseshit. Presidents can, and have, won the EC while only carrying a minority of states. The constitution says nothing about needing to carry a majority of states. I did some arithmetic, and it is mathematically possible to win the EC while only carrying eleven states

Put up the math.

It takes a real president to acquire the Popular vote and the ELECTORAL VOTE both!

Only FAKE presidents can't win the popular vote!

I will take that as a tacit admission you were not aware the intent of the EC is not to ensure a presidential mandate of the majority of the states.

I just did the math in my head looking at a map of states with their commensurate EC quota.

I will take that as you are full of shit. You cannot produce the math. Typical Democrat. Talking out his ass.
